The only time this happened to me was OneDrive that caused it, I paused OneDrive went to OneDrive saves on-line and deleted the BF2042 folder there and restarted the game and it was fine.

I don't know what your issue is have you tried to verify game files in your BF2042 game directory?

    battlefield 2042 start intro always
Defender (Win 11_24H2) turn off direct access to folders. (allow the application to access the folders)

Hello: I just fixed my 2042. Here's what I had to do. I'm on a brand new machine, fresh install of everything. It actually played 2042 a number of times with out issue, Then out of the blue I get the dreaded "save files corrupt" screen. I installed, and uninstalled, and reinstalled, and uninstalled, everything etc.  Still no 2042. After much research I got serious. First I used Chris Titus utility to remove OneDrive. Then I went into Documents/Battlefield 2042/settings/PROSAVE_profile, open with wordpad. First look to see if a file "GstRender.CyclicCrashPrevention 1" is present. If not put it in where it belongs. Mine did not have this file. Then go back to PROSAVE and if there is a "PROSAVE - copy" there, delete it. Then go back to EA and right click on 2042 manage tab and do a repair files. Then get out of EA and reboot your machine.

OK, after thinking about this I come to this conclusion. When you get the "save files corrupt" and then it says "checking data" on that message in the upper left corner of that overlay. Then it says "continuing will overwrite the files". So this is the direct fix, I think. When it does that it is overwriting the files. Those files are in the Documents/Battlefield 2042/settings. When you do that you'll see the PROSAVE_profile file and the PROSAVE file and PROSAVE - copy file. You'll want to delete the PROSAVE file and then rename the PROSAVE - copy to PROSAVE. Then do a BF 2042 repair in the EA app.

My fix after trying this threads advice. WAS - this isn't working for me. I'm going to try something else.
    1. Rename PROFSAFE to PROFSAFE_tmp
    2. In the EA app click on the 3 bars in the top left. Select Go offline
    3. Start Battlefield 2042 as administrator from the desktop icon (Hasn't run in administrator mode through the EA App in months)
    4. Keep clicking Close on the popup window while Battlefield 2042 starts up
    5. You'll get to a point when the game tells you it cannot communicate with EA servers. (do not EXIT BF2042)
    6. press the windows key on your keyboard
    7. From / In the EA app click Go online
    8. wait
    9. BF2042 will start up like it is your first time ever playing (Don't panic like I did, all your stuff is still there.)
    10. Follow the games prompts (Yes! you must be patient.)
    11. After the tutorials are completed.
    12. Exit BF2042
    13. Using the Desktop Icon restart BF2042 as administrator
    14. Re-equip your characters gear
    15. Thank the DEV Team at EA for spending years months days hours sleepless nights creating software that fills us with a vast array of emotions.
    16. Your BACK!
