On which server did this happen?
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm)
Summarize your bug Device Hung Directx error. This seems to be happening while in the Menus. I can play the game fine. But if i stay in the Menu too long it crashes.. There is no FPS limiter while in the Menu.. The GPU Ramps up to 100% usage while in the menu.. While when actually playing the game it only ever uses 85% of the GPU.. I played the Beta with no crashes what so ever
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go in to the menu, with Vsync off. See if your GPU ramps up.. Wait for it to crash
What happens when the bug occurs? I get the Dirextx GPU Hung error dialogue box.. Game crashes or hangs
What should be happening instead? It should not be crashing in the menu.. But you really should have a limiter for the menu.. Who needs their GPU running max in the menu.. Its a waste of power, causes heat and noise.

Attached Bug report..

Crashing while sitting in the game Menu.

GPU usage seems to ramp up to the max, causing fans to go on full speed, there seems to be no limiter for the menu?

Most games these days set a limit of either 30 or 60 fps for the menus..  There is no need for any higher..  Its a waste of power, causes heat and noise from the fans,

I think this is related to the menus causing the GPU to hang/crash.. its connected somehow..

Never had this issue or crashing in the Beta...

  • Yes,

I think I solved it, all i did was reinstall the same Nvidia driver again, just used express setup over the top of my current driver.  No clean install needed.  Rebooted, haven't crashed since.

Also I decided to launch it from Origin, instead of EA Play.  Not sure if this made a difference, as I did both at the same time..

I noticed EA Desktop doesn't do cloud saves for your configuration, but the first thing Origin asked me was to update the cloud save.  I don't think this made the difference, I think it was more the re-install of the driver.

  • Hmm, I'm crashing after every match when going back to menus, this might be why.

  • Same here. But my game is also crashing while playing. This is not fun.

  • Reinstalling gpu driver does not prevent the gpu from crashing in the BF 2042 menu.

  • A did everything i could, reinstall win 11, reinstall drivers etc.. clean and not clan install.

    still crashing ..
