OP, I had the same issue. Tested everything. In the end, it was a faulty i9-13900K.
Try looking there.
@off3nc3 it can also be faulty / incomptabile ram (not in qvl).
And / Or some bios (out of date version) settings that pushes system to or even over the max (oc)
That need to be investigated, especially when ya got the z690 or the newer z790 boards , they are still in dev. ,mode with software (bios for example) and their hardware compatability !

I've been struggling with that issue and I've tried a lot of recommendations but this is what solved it on my computer (CPU 13900k, MB MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI, Video card MSI GeForce RTX 4080 Suprim X and RAM G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DIMM Kit 64GB, DDR5-6000):
Underclock the CPU slightly.
I used Intel Extreme Tuning Utility for the ease of use. You'll find a brief explanation in those two pictures that I attached.
I hope it works for you. I recommend to work your way up by adding more clock once you've found a working clock speed for Battlefield 2042.

This is also is happening to me. ONLY WITH EA Games.
Game either Crashes without any notice. Crashes seconds on entering a map without any notice,
DirectX error happen at the beginning, during, and almost at the end of a map.
Sometimes the machine will reboot just by Clicking on the Battlefield 2042 icon in the desktop, or when entering a map.
I have tried playing the game under a local admin account - No change all of the above applies.
Clean Install. - No change all of the above applies
Game Reinstall - No change all of the above applies.

I am really just frustrated by this.
Tried the CPU test and passed - Just in case. And I am not overclocking.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Is there away that I could get my money back?
I am really tired of this DIRECTX issue that they are just ignoring.
