@Cyning90025 Well that makes me feel a little better lol I couldn't find a post that the error code looked like mine. Saw a lot of Direct X issues for sure, appreciate the quick response!
Whenever I open Battlefield 2042 this directx function error message shows up https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/769951781026922497/908770775014731786/unknown.png , can anyone help me?
I have BF2042 installed through steam (fully updated). I have the newest windows 10 updates and the newest nvidia drivers.
Things I have already tried:
- Reinstalling BF2042 through steam
- Validating the files through steam
- Starting BF2042 through origin with the screen overlay disabled
- Starting BF2042 in compatibility mode and with fullscreen optimizations disabled
- Reinstalling graphics drivers through GeForce Experience
- Totally uninstalling graphics drivers and geforce experience with DDU and reinstalling them all from scratch
I'm kind of at my wit's end here, since I seem to have tried everything and gotten nowhere, and BF2042 is the ONLY game on my system which does not work.
Thanks and any help is appreciated
Can confirm, updating to 20H2 let's me play the game, would be happy if this got fixed tho, 20H2 feels much worse than 1909 for me.
can confirm too. updated my windows to 20H2 and it works again. but i feel like the performance is bad now
- @LVrolands22 @Dextase feel worse: you mean in-game? Or performance of the Windows OS itself is worse?
Here is my dxdiag if it can help
- @AcheronTitan personally, everything feels a bit more sluggish, haven't played the game yet on 1909 so can't compare in-game performance.
Same problem.

So, I fixed it for me...what I I was reset all display setting to default and only turned off nvidia low latency and now it works.

- @Kana1896 I have posted a few times about same issue. Seeing that people updated to windows 20H2 resolved for some. I haven't been able to for months never new why. I randomly checked and my mobo a 1st gen B350 Tomahawk had a bios update within a week ago that supports windows 11. Flashed bios and it looks like my windows update may finally be happening this time further than I have been before. IE windows updates is part of it but it's tied into that bios firmware requirements for windows 11 crap too I bet is the problem. Windows is garbo
