Disconnected while playing or in menu [PC]

Disconnected randomly with error code 1:4688822970:-4685921b (unable to connect to EA servers)

Sometimes its 30 seconds before i get the error and disconnected, other times, could be 10 minutes.

i have reset and rebooted and factory reset my router multiple times. close every other online service, rebooted system, repaired 2042, cleared the ea app cache.

this has only started happening since the latest season 6 update for battlefield, i was playing perfectly fine before.

my connection to the internet is perfectly fine and its only the game that has problems

attached the error screen after disconnection, and the second screen if im in a game. if in menu i just get the first one.

edit: Did a fresh install, problem persists

Since last update, "season 6" I had exactly the same problem as you describe here, and I think I found the solution for it.

This problem is related with one of Windows Services, the name of this service is Client DNS "DNSCache".

You need to check if your Client DNS "DNSCache" if it is running.

*Solution: this service needs to be fully operational, and if it is not, you need to solve any problems with it.

To complete, open the Command Prompt as Admin, and execute all those commands one by one:

Type " ipconfig /flushdns " and press Enter.
Type " ipconfig /registerdns " and press Enter.
Type " ipconfig /release " and press Enter.
Type " ipconfig /renew " and press Enter.
Type " netsh winsock reset " and press Enter.
    Restart the computer.

i followed your instructions, everything worked except the registerdns command which gave me "registration of dns records failed the rpc server is unavailable"

That lead me down a rabbit hole of attempting to fix that, including starting services that were not booting, and booting my computer in normal mode, rather then a custom one.

one service that i thought was going to be the ticket was the Remote Registry service was not enabled or running, i thought maybe with the new anticheat that might have been the issue, but alas. nope. still the exact same problem. get in game play for a few minutes, then disconnected.

i have hard wired into my modem, bought a new nic card, neither did anything, my brother has no problems playing on the same network.

i truly believe there must be some kind of software conflict going on but strangely even with reinstalls, of ea app, ea anticheat, and battlefield, none have fixed this issue.

so unless the "registerdns" rpc blockage is the end all be all to the problem, i cant figure out how to get that to work.

    Thanks in advance

  • Same errors here. Got it since S6 update too. guess the dns client service is the Problem. Cant activate it - there will always be an error and it seems like there are some more registry issues - will try to reinstall my windows and hope it will fix these probs.

On Windows REGEDIT in registry tree "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache" in right panel exist one key name as "Start" that key needs to be value 2 if it as value 4 that it is your problem.

You must be able to pass that error "registration of dns records failed the rpc server is unavailable" with a correct or valid message, if the problem is not in PC it's your Router and you need to reset it...

so i think i got it solved now, and it was the stupidest thing ever. it turns out there was ANOTHER router up the chain in my network. once reset and rebooted. it seems to be working. i have played 2 rounds of 2042 in full so far.

i was about 5 minutes away from reinstalling a fresh copy of windows.

STyLO your a king man. thanks for all the help, i feel embarrassed that it was so simple of a fix and i wasted so much of your time

    hopefully it stays working!

    thanks again stylo!

welp problem came back within the day. did a full windows reinstall. slowly reinstalled, programs. Pretty sure i've nailed it down to my vpn. PIA (private internet access) that even when disabled, turned off etc still caused the problem. uninstalled it, problem seems to be gone. have only had 1 full round so far but will update if it reoccurs.

  • Hi @Tama , do you have the problem resolved? I've been having this problem since March and none of the methods I find seems to work.

I did resolve it by uninstalling pia. I haven't checked to see if they have updated the client to work with the game. It's possible they have fixed it but I doubt it.
