@AntiCheatWard I don't see any updates via the EA launcher for BF 2042 , what exactly and how did you deploy a hotfix ?

@off3nc3 EA anticheat updates independently of the game, so you wouldn't see an update in the EA app.
It would've automatically downloaded the update the next time you launch the game while you see the Battlefield 2042 splash screen.- BeWary2 years agoSeasoned Vanguard
@AntiCheatWardI have been getting BSOD and/or CTD when starting BF2042 due to ExpressVPN running in the background. I don't know how a VPN could be used to cheat, but would you guys be able to whitelist VPN software so this stops happening? Or at the very least, could you detect if a VPN is actually in use before triggering your countermeasures? I haven't been using the VPN during gaming, but regardless, I have to stop all related background services and apps to avoid crashes.
Also, a much friendlier user experience would be a simple dialog box telling the user what unapproved app was detected. Forcefully restarting the whole machine is quite harsh and could cause loss of other user data.

@BeWary I'll take a look, it's possible that we're not directly causing the BSOD you experience on the machine, but a bad interaction between our apps. We already get data on all BSODs for users, but we filter out the ones that don't have our module loaded in the callstack for privacy reasons, but again, I'll check.
