Just to recap a couple of additional troubleshooting steps from this thread: 

  1. Have the C:\ drive used as your ea app and game installation drive
  2. Temporarily disable your antivirus or other security software
  3. System apps that come with your PC could be interfering, try preventing those starting on bootup or otherwise temporarily disable those.

How about EA fixes their **bleep** so we don't have to do anything like this just to get the **bleep** game working...
