Error/Bug - This software cannot be used at the same time as the game

Hello,

I'm playing Battlefield 2042 on PC for quite some time without any issue. Last night I have installed the game on my PS5 and played a bit, all was good - but now when I want to play the game on my PC, I face this error (see attached). What should I do to fix this? Now I can play the game only on my PS5 but not on my PC.

    So after I asked ChatGPT (yeah, I know), he told me to search for any programs on my PC that comes from Publisher: DiscSoft because that's the error about.

    This software cannot be used at the same time as the game. Please make sure it's not running, or restart your PC. (84): DiscSoftLTD

    So I've found Daemon Tools and uninstalled it. Now the game works. Also, you have to uninstall ReWASD if you have.

    So basically the game or anticheat doesnt like apps coming from that DiscSoft publisher and won't let you start the game. If you have any programs like DAEMON Tools, ReWASD or Astroburn you can't play the game.

    This is solved, not a technical solution but a workaround.

    SOLVED: managed to fix this myself by downloading daemon tools lite, then uninstalling it using REVO uninstaller. I used the uninstaller to scan for any leftover files, which there were a lot of. After doing this the game works fine.

    I tried all the possible options that the support team gave me. Nothing helped. I don't have the updated Daemon Tools. Nowhere at all! The same story with Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 2042. EA just takes the bait and after a while the game stops working. This is EA's problem!!! Fix it!!!

    I had the same problem eventually I solved it y right clicking the game (in steam) and verifying the files, it found 3 it could not verify and it reloaded them. now working

    I know it's a bit silly but I actually installed Daemon Tools (I don't have it before) and then uninstalled it along with deleting all the data of ReWASD as well. Restarted the PC and then FC25 runs normally. Hope this helps!

    I don't have DeamonTools but i have Rewasd. Now i can't play something i paid for? How come Ea can decide what i can have or can't have on my compuer? I am using rewasd for pro software to remap my controllers as productivity tools. Who is ea to decide what i can have? This is evil.

    EA can **bleep** off. They don't get to dictate what software I run on my PC just because it has the same developer as something they block. It's overall easier to uninstall BF and EA.

    This is ridiculous.  I paid for ReWASD for a specific reason.  I don't want to have to uninstall to play a game I also F!#$ing paid for.  Get your stupid **bleep** together EA and stop handicapping us with you dumb garbage.  Making people uninstall perfectly non-problematic software is complete BS.

    I also found the USB trace but it wasn’t enough just to get rid of that you should also o to device manager look in storage controllers and there is a Demon tools storage controller uninstall that. it worked.
