Failure to send friend request error PS5 and xbox series S

Platform:PlayStation 5

Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Game Menu
In which game menu were you when the bug occurred? EA Friends
Please select your region North America
On which server did this happen?
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm)
Summarize your bug Trying to add a friend. Receive the attached error. Friend also receives this error when attempting to add me. They are on xbox one series S.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Not entirely sure.
What happens when the bug occurs? Receive error that pops up for a couple seconds then disappears.
What should be happening instead? Friend invite should send

    I’m on Xbox x trying to send friend request to PC users and getting this same error on BF 2042

    checked privacy and cross play setting on xbox


    Relinked Xbox and ea account

    no luck.  Anyone else to find a solution?

    I'm currently playing Battlefield 2042 (disc copy) on PS5 and trying to add a friend playing his on Xbox one and we cannot see each other as EA friends or on the same servers either. We've checked cross play on, and had it on the whole time. We've tried both our account IDs and gamertag/PSNs. Is EA still monitoring this issue as I've yet to see a comment on this thread for atleast a year if ever. 

    No joy. 

    please update this feed if you have solved the issue or can solve the issue.

    X Box One. I have a buddy on series x that I play online fine with. Adding him was a lot easier

    @matteobono Then the first thing to check then is that you and the friend you're trying to play with are using the last gen version of the game.
