game refuses to open or change map after 1 round...random crashes

Bought it at launch, played it, had my fun until the many bugs made it unplayable.

NOW After ALL THIS TIME I jumped back and I CAN'T PLAY 2 MATCHES IN A ROW.

Look, ppl at EA games. I read some of your forums already and it seems you wanna blame 3rd party software or some "faulty" hardware.

WELL THIS IS NOT THE CASE

I play LOTS of games and it seems this is the only one that refuses to work. Even when a close friend told he couldn't even get it to open I said in all confidence "game is fun now, optimized and maybe a good excuse to stop playing the big POS cod has become.
And now look at me here ranting because the game refuses to work. First reseted ALL MY SETTINGS which took me 4-5 hours to fine tune with all my custom keybindinds...

Now, it looks amazing, moves great but IT CRASHES or simply refuse to open ffs.

What a dissapointment for me after more than 20 years now playing the franchise coming to this....what an incompetent test and developing team you have there.

I wish I could get a full refund, jeez

    Thanks for the DXDIAG report. It looks pretty good - updated drivers, etc. There is nothing blatantly wrong that I see.

    The Diagnostics section at the bottom suggests Windows may not have updated correctly, so I suggest you look into that.

    Also, make sure your memory speed in BIOS matches what your CPU supports.

    @DonParceroTV

    Try this post #463   (Of course this post describes how to remove the Nvidia cache, I don't know where the Radeons have the cache, you would have to ask your uncle google) :

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/S6-Stuck-on-Black-Screen-during-Pre-or-End-of-Round-gt-Requires/m-p/13190832#M55576

    + delete BF2042 folder cache --> (...)\Documents\Battlefield 2042

    If this not help then analyze whether the errors with BF2042 originated after some Windows update, if so, remove the faulty update.

    Microsoft likes to test its patches on users, so there's a good chance that a Windows update caused your problem.

    Also test your RAM with some program. It's possible that you have a mismatched RAM, or you've hit on some junk. Every game uses different calculations, so it's also possible that just your RAM may have a problem with BF2042.

    Also check this post, the problem you are describing was very popular, maybe you can find some solution to your problem at this link?

    @DarthFDG

    It is unlikely that the reason for the errors with BF2042 is an outdated version of Windows or Bios.

    BIOS is supposed to control the components installed in the computer and read them correctly.

    Windows, MB and GPU drivers and add-ons such as Microsoft Visual C++ , DirectX and derivatives are responsible for handling the game.

    I have never updated Windows and had no problems with games. I only update the BIOS if I want to, for example, change the processor to a newer generation, or there is a bug in an older version of the bios that causes, for example, incorrect support for OC or XMP RAM profiles. I also only update the GPU drivers if the game asks me to, or I have the latest GPU on the market. In my case when I have an RTX 2080S, for example, GPU updates don't make sense because the older product is slowed down in favor of the newer one. It's like that with everything, even phones 🙂.

    I used to update Windows 10 offline until WIndows 11, then I gave up on that because every update W10 microscopically slowed down in favor of W11. I encountered the same degradation phenomenon in W7 and older.

    Spoiler
    I hardly ever advise updating the bios (I only advise it if some XMP profile doesn't work properly, or doesn't read some drive/cooling, etc.), because if something goes wrong, a user who doesn't know his PC well may not be able to handle it and will have to spend money on a repair at a service center.

    I didn't say "outdated version of Windows". I suggested an update may have gone awry, which is what you also suggested.

    I have personally experienced a bad Windows update causing issues with the game... same with memory mismatch in BIOS. Hence, my suggestions.

  • I'll update to the Win11 23H2.

    I'm really aware about Microsoft using us as beta testers so that's why I always postpone any major updates until I feel it's been enough time for they to correct any bugs.

    My computer is top of the line, messing with my ram settings would be my last resort. Anything else works just fine but damn if I was FRUSTRATED yesterday. I love Battlefield and yesterday wasn't my day. My apologies for the rant.

    Thank you all for trying to help.

    Will tell you what I find

    I've been in the scenario multiple times where "this game is the only thing that has the issue", when I later found out the issue wasn't the game, but something with my configuration.

  • In my case I can say for sure I know my fare share when it comes to computers after 20 years of working with them. My computer with any other game is able to play, record and stream at the same time. But with this game, even with everything else closed...It can't be stable enough

    I think I found one of the reasons. Still crashes randomly but not as much.

    Make sure you're not using the AMD optimization at all.

    As you can see it works just fine with other games (I didn't even know of this) but not with Battlefield 2042.

    @DonParceroTV Indeed , topics about ASUS software (armoury crate for example) , could issue youre system settings/config and make issues in game(s).

    Cheers

    @DarthFDG Thumbs up, configs and software in this silicon lottery could make ya lucky or very sad !
    Good info @DarthFDG 😉
