Have you also checked if you have crossplay enabled? Sometimes this helps if you're connecting to empty matches. 

He probably means that we can't see Friends online! We are experiencing the same issue where we cannot see our friends online in Battlefield 2042. After the last patch, it sometimes randomly shows only one player (or none) online. For instance, multiple of my colleagues are online and playing Battlefield, but we cannot see each other in the friends list. We are all from Europe. See also the same report here: 11858720.
