Update: It seems that @waffllly over here https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Losing-all-keyboard-and-mouse-input/m-p/11554303#M17045 has found the cause of the issue. For me and many others, this bug was caused by the Xbox app. I believe that to get rid of it you must uninstall every game you have through Xbox and uninstall the Xbox app as well. This is what I did and I have now played several rounds without loosing input. This isn't exactly a 'fix' as I had to uninstall 5 other games just to play this one game, and it came 7 months late, but for the first time I was able to play bf2042.
Sad to say that fix hasn't worked for me. Must be something else on my system because I removed the one Xbox game I installed, and I removed all xbox apps using the instructions at this link: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-uninstall-xbox-game-bar-on-windows-pc and I still get the issue. Not too surprising since I had no Event ID 157 messages in my System log anyway. After removing all the Xbox stuff, it does seem to freeze inputs a little less often though.
So frustrating. I'm glad for you guys who figured it out on your systems. Have fun with the game!
I also had this issue which really wanted me to uninstall the whole thing repeatedly.
Yesterday, I found a possible solution while searching the web for an answer: Disable in-game VOIP. I tried that and indeed, since then I have not experienced this issue anymore (for 3-4 h game time, so far).
KUDOS to the person who figured this out, unfortunately I don't seem to find the original post anymore and thus can't link it here.
It's interesting how so many people have the same issue but caused by so many different things.
I'll try this, but doubt it will work for me since I've had the issue from the start of the game - before VOIP was even a feature of the game.
