I had this problem for a long time, starting somewhere around half a year after the release. Initially the first 6 months, no issues at all, and then suddenly my keyboard and/or mouse would freeze for a few seconds. Maybe it got introduced with a battlefield update season 2 or any other update.
The freezes had some strange after effect.
Because I kept pressing the keys, the last direction or key press would get executed directly after the freeze, resulting in my specialist moving uncontrollably in one direction. This took 1 or 2 seconds, often with unlucky results like being killed or attacked without having control.
Sometimes it happened several times in a match, sometimes just once or not at all. After analyzing, I found this issue only occurred in the first 2 or 3 matches and completely disappeared for the next matches, no matter how many I played.
Initially, I thought it was a hardware problem, like heat, USB failure, or a driver issue. I tried everything from forums, but nothing worked. Reinstalling the game, NVIDIA drivers, clearing cache, disabling or uninstalling some software didn't help. I switched my keyboard to different USB ports, but the issue persisted.
For 1.5 years, I had to play as if the machine was possessed by an evil demon.
What i did not remove because i sometimes used my quest 2 VR headset for pc games was all of the software which got installed along the way.
So, I started removing 3rd party software for my Quest 2 headset. After removing virtual reality desktop and sdk's, tools etc the freeze problem reduced significantly.
I dug deeper and found a thread where someone disabled the Microsoft gaming service. So i did that also and I even renamed the files used by these services, and since then, I'm free from the freezes. If you own a Quest headset or something similar and experience the same freeze issue, consider removing related applications or services and try disabling the two gaming services.
To rename the gaming service files, which you can't do at first glance, claim ownership and edit the permissions to change permissions on that folder and its files for the logged-in user. Look in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps for atleast 2 microsoft gaming service.
Ps i did enable the microsoft gaming service again to see if the problem returns and it did. Not as bad as before but it happens, just one or twice and it is less annoying or does not persist that long.
So i did disable the gaming services again and it did not return for 5 matches of conquest.
Maybe my workaround can help you? If you have more tips or other experiences then let us know.
Well. Goodluck and keep us posted!
Cheers 🍺
