So I did some testing and after turning off a load of background tasks I did manage to get it working a bit smoother. The weird thing is though if I used a remote mouse app from my phone it was buttery smooth.
Eventually I did however do a Windows reset to get rid of a load of background tasks and I now have no problems, but understand that is not something everyone can or should be able to do.
