New computer but can't play a full round anymore

Hey all. I got a new computer on Friday. I played a bit of BF2042 on Sunday, everything seemed fine.

Yesterday I tried playing again but each time I tried to play, there would be a point where the audio is garbled, the frame rate would drop and eventually I would be kicked out with an error message that says all players were kicked due to the server shutting down (but this isn't true since my friends are still playing in the server). I haven't been able to play a full round since.

Anyone else experiencing this or were able to fix it? I didn't have these issues on my old PC. Less than 30 fps sure, but I could at least play a round! 😁

Specs:

I7 12700

16GB RAM

RTX 3060

Windows 11 Home

  • Oh wow, those posts I thought were deleted actually came back haha. Sorry about that.

Anyway, since the update and even the days leading to the update, the game has become more stable and I didn't experience any of the behaviour I previously described, which is very weird. Glad the game is running smoothly for now.... Thank you for asking Atic.

  • Thanks for responding. Don't really know where to start in terms of troubleshooting since not sure if it's an audio, video, RAM, OS or game issue.

Since that time, I tried deleting the cache and also updating to the most recent NVIDIA drivers (that were released yesterday), and I had no problems last night!

But tonight, while I didn't get any framerate drops or disconnects from the server, I did hear the audio stuttering again. So, guess it's still not gone for good.

  • Hmmm that's weird, I thought I already answered this post!

    But anyway, thanks for replying.

Anyway since I had no idea whether I had an audio, video, OS or game issue, and I have little time to test things, I didn't try much. I did change some power settings on my network adapter, tried disabling the Wi-Fi on my PC to ensure I was only using the Ethernet cable (my new PC comes with Wi-Fi enabled by default), checked my modem settings and that's about it. I mean, this is a fresh install of BF2042 on a new computer. I wasn't expecting it to be worse than what I had previously. I also disabled OneDrive since it was messing about with the My Documents folder while the game was running (causing me to disconnect, but that's a separate issue). I tried looking for updates and everything was up-to-date, although NVIDIA did release a new patch shortly after.

So I go the idea on another forum to clear the cache before playing. So next time I played, that's what I did. But I also installed the new NVIDIA patch as well. The game worked fine that night.

Last night though, I tried again and while I didn't get kicked out of the server, the audio and framerate issues came back.

(sorry just testing. I've posted a reply twice now and both times it's been deleted for some reason)

Thanks for replying by the way. Going to keep this short:

Tried the following. I haven't tried much since not sure where to start:

    - Changing network adapter power settings

    - Already turned OneDrive off from before (connectivity issues with respect to MyDocuments being backed up during play)

    - Tried to find new drivers for everything but they're apparently all up-to-date (remember, this is a new PC with a fresh install of BF2042)

    - Ran memory diagnostic test. No errors.

    Wed night:

    - New NVIDIA driver installed (just released a few hours before) and I tried deleting cache. Game worked fine.

    Thu night:

    - Game started having stuttering audio and framerate drops again, but at least didn't get kicked out

So, really intermittent and hard to pin down what's going on.

    Specs:

    i7 12700

    16GB RAM

    RTX 3060

    Windows 11 Home 22H2
