[PC]Launches windowed with no sound unless game files verified each session

As stated in the title every time I launch the game on steam the game launches windowed and without any sound, I can go into the options menu to reapply Fullscreen mode but nothing I do will bring back sound. This can be temporarily fixed by going to Properties > Local files > verify integrity of game files... After steam validates the files the game will the launch correctly, sound will work and the game will be perfectly playable, but if the game is exited and then reopened the issue occurs.

I've tried uninstalling the game and the EA app and deleting all files relating to the both from my system. I then reinstalled and after the initial launch working fine the same thing happens.

This issue also happens if the system has been clean booted.

Issue has been occurring since update 3 went live on 22nd November and has not been fixed on any subsequent update.

System Specs

OS: Windows 11 Home 22H2

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3D

GPU: Powercolor Red Devil 6800xt

Driver: 22.11.2

Memory: 32GB

Platform: Steam

  • I'm apparently having the same issue.  The game opened in Windowed mode, and there was no sound.  I put the game back into Borderless, restarted the game, with no change.

  • I just started coming across this issue too. Posted a month ago and it's still an ongoing issue with no fix?

    System Specs

    OS: Windows 10 Pro 19044

    Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x

    GPU: Sapphire 6900xt Toxic

    Memory: 32GB

    Platform: EA

  • Same thing happened to me, sooooo annoying! Hit alt-tab and that makes it full screen with audio!

This last update also makes windows ask me every time for permission before the game will start. Everything to do with the game is set to "run as administrator" and I have full privileges to the account.

Then if it finally starts for the first time, sometimes the game plays all jittery with intermittent stalls, and I have to restart it. Every time I restart my computer I have to start Battlefield 2042 twice! Keep in mind I have all nice equipment: i9-12900k, RTX4090, 32GB 6400MHZ RAM, Windows 11, and all the updates to everything. I tried reinstalling everything twice. The game is just so unstable on startup. When it does finally start properly, I'm getting 190 frames per second average on a 49in 5120×1440 Ultrawide monitor at 240 HZ,  with everything set to Ultra.

@driftmotionaaron if y did set (checked) to Run As Admin, then he will indeed ask to agree !
Disable Run As Admin and it should not ask to confirm it anymore!

    cheers
