Performance issues

Hallo there!

First my PC specs:

Motherboard: MSI MEG ACE MAX X570S
CPU: Amd R9 5950x @4.6Ghz
RAM: 32gig tridenz rgb Ram 3200Mhz CL14
GPU: Msi Rtx 3090 Gaming X trio
SSD: 2x PCIe 4.0 Samsung 980 Pro 1TB
Winwos 11 Pro

I currently play on a 1440p 240hz Samsung HDR monitor and i get around 70 to 80fps while playing on the new season 2 map:
The settings ingame are Ultra across the board without dlss and raytracing.
I optimised as much i could, a custom config didn't really resolve the issue, also all drivers bios, windows updates and C++ runtimes were updated to the newest versions.
Later this week i can provide avg fps via Nvidia performance monitor and current cpu and gpu usage via screenshots.
I also tried the game on a clean windows 10 install, sadly it had exactly the same issues.
It's only in BF2042 all the other games run as i expect for this hardware configuration.

Cpu wise the load is about 40% to 50% when playing in a full lobby, temps are at around 75 degress max.
Gpu wise it's not going over 70% of course it rarely peaks to 90% but that's rather rare.

All the performance will be tested with 128player conquest (i mainly play this mode) the following days to proivde some metrics to this post.

Here are some RivaTuner stats across 2 short conquest rounds:

06-09-2022, 20:25:46 BF2042.exe benchmark completed, 23510 frames rendered in 290.000 s Orbital mid match
Average framerate : 76.0 FPS
Minimum framerate : 57.8 FPS
Maximum framerate : 109.4 FPS
1% low framerate : 48.3 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 30.0 FPS
06-09-2022, 20:34:06 BF2042.exe benchmark completed, 21441 frames rendered in 271.265 s Renewal Mid match
Average framerate : 71.0 FPS
Minimum framerate : 50.9 FPS
Maximum framerate : 107.3 FPS
1% low framerate : 45.5 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 34.8 FPS

Screenshots can look a bit weird because of the HDR.

Hi @dartgugi, do you have recording of it?

Battlefield games are very CPU intensive games where a better CPU will do more for you then a new GPU.

  • Hi @dartgugi, while in game can you run PerfOverlay.drawFps 1 you should see if there anything hitting the red.

  • Hello @EA_Atic , I played one round with it on.
The CPU is hitting red and yellow, it's rather often sadly.
But I don't know how this is happening, other quite CPU intensive games/applications run pretty well.
