Summarize your bug Custom Portal Experiences built in the web builder prior to update 4 no longer start in Portal, giving an error that they are not valid.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? If you have any custom experiences created in the web builder which include custom logic also, completed prior to update 4 then try running some of them using the experience code in portal. I cant be sure if it is every experience created prior to the update but suspect it is a lot if not all.
What happens when the bug occurs? Message appears in game saying that it is not valid and the mode will not start.
What should be happening instead? The mode should start...
I've selected the options for the bug report including the platform but this affects any platform if using the portal mode and custom experiences.
Custom Portal experiences created through the web builder prior to update 4 will no longer run using the experience code. Previously working experiences will state that a valid experience cannot be created when trying to start them in game.
It may not be the case for every experience. This has happened before after an update. I suspect that changes to the portal builder in the update have made some changes to the way the experience is created behind the scenes affecting backwards compatibility with older experiences. I imagine that if you added additional options to the builder (like logic blocks or values) these will not be present when being saved in older versions meaning they will not work
.
To fix this (if anyone does have this problem) you need access to the original experience playground and you just need to resave it (change the name and change it back). The experience will now work again - I suspect resaving includes any detail the newer update needs in the saved version that isn't present in the original.
