Re: BF 2042 wont launch

Thanks for including the detail on all the troubleshooting you've already tried, plus the DXDIAG report. It's helpful.

Something's up with your Intel Rapid Storage Technology configuration. If you look at the bottom of the DXDIAG report in the Diagnostics section, you will see RstMwService.exe called out multiple times. I suggest you get that resolved. (Sorry, I don't know how to do that.) While it seems like a bit of stretch that this would be causing your issue, I've seen stranger things.

  • Hi, thanks for the answer.

It seems like i have had the bios system in raid and not in achi and the intel rapid Storage Technology configuration was also on. I have uninstalled the intel rapid, changed to achi and repaired bf 2042 but i still get the same outcome.

Make sure you look into the other issues called out in the Diagnostics section.

  • Done another clean windows 11 install and removed the RstMwService.exe when i do another dxdiag. But i still get the same outcome. Any other tips for me.

If you did a clean Windows install and immediately installed the game and it doesn't work, you very likely have a hardware configuration issue. Check BIOS for things like memory speed (must match what CPU can support).

  • I just checked and everything is set to auto, i have never touched any thing in there. Tried F5 (set to optimized) in bios and got no changes when i got out of bios.
