Re: Computer Rebooting When Launching Battlefield 2042

Hi BugsyGL I've the same problem, had it before on the beta.

You launchh the game, i'ts loading and BOOM pc is rebooting.

I had a similar issue with FH5, randmoly when I was launching a race, my pc was rebooting, I resolved this launching my game in administrator (I'm administrator with my account but it seems to not working for some games).

Tried to do the same with BF2042, didn't work.

I've tried to configure my firewall to allow BF and Origin, didn't work.

I've disabled my firewall, launch the game, didn' work.

It's not a security problem

For informations :

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X + Nvidia RTX 2070 Super (30.0.14.9649  drivers)

32Gb ram

850W PSU

Work well on all games, except BF2042

Forget to say that my crashes happened randomly on the loading.

When I see the Battledfield 2042 screen, or maybe when I've the logo saying that it's connecting, or when I'm slightly connected and see a screen with a ship.

But never further.

I've tried Portal now as well, and that lasted a literal 20 seconds before crashing as well. My APC ID now also reports #7. I tried changing "GstRender.Dx12Enabled" to 1 instead of 0 from my research and it didn't work. 

Can't get into a game of AOW due to persistence errors now as well (server I believe). 

I'm going to do a complete fresh install of Windows 10 instead of keeping 11 and see how that works. 

It appears our issue is pretty rare, but quite severe. An OFFICIAL DICE RESPONSE would be quite nice or I will have to refund this game as I literally can not play it. 

21.11.2 was crashing over and over again on the map zoom in to spawn on the battle of the bulge map then began to do in on every map in the same way. the error was basically a lost contact with graphics card explanation, I tried undoing my overclock thinking it may have been unstable and that didn't work, then i ran it at stock speed and it still didnt work so i undervolted it and it still failed so ended up rolling my drivers back to 21.10.2 and it ran smooth so i then reloaded my overclock and haven't had a crash since with about 6hours gametime. hope my experience helps even though you had a different error.

@Kadiak-122 your issue sounds similar to what happens when a power supply is failing mate, they switch off when under load and the ship screen does exactly that, loads up your PSU. if you have another one it would be worth testing.

Whelp. 

Fresh installed Windows 10 (total format beforehand) with the only background process being Steam and NZXT CAM, and I can play Portal now (ran into hackers in BC2 which was super cool), but as soon as I finally got into a match of 2042, hard reset within 2 minutes. 

Windows version 21H1, GPU drivers on 21.10.2. Still getting WHEA-Logger errors. 

I forgot to mention in original post, my game was running fine for the first 2-3 games before I restarted it. (Loadouts not saving issue due to being granted locked attachments [lol]).

Vanguard and Horizon still work flawlessly in 4K high. 

Definitely need to see a Dice response at this point, because it is actually ridiculous I can't play a game I played $100 for, unless I like 30 second bites. 

@Obliviate82I've tried with another PSU, didn't work, same problem.

The thing is, I had similar issue with FH5 when joining a game, and simply launch the game as administrator resolved it.
I'll tried to reinstall Origin and BF, I'll see.

Update : proper reinstallation didn't change anything

As the last update for now, I reached out to chat support last night and provided them with this thread and they made a case for the issue. There isn't currently a fix for the issue, but if you want to try making sure you network is connected, that's what I was given in the meantime. How those 2 correlate, especially on a fresh install of Windows I have no idea but there ya go I guess. 

When or if a solution is provided (I expect to hear at least something within 3 days), I will update for the rest here as well. 

lol, since when has a disconnected network caused a computer to reboot!

Try playing at a lower resolution, i loaded game today and it had set its resolution to 1280x720, horrendous resolution but it didnt crash, upped it to 1920x1200 and it did not crash for 2 games, upped it to the normal 2560x1440 and it crashed after game launched <1min. Only crashed to desktop and not a reboot. (also decreased all settings to low and refresh to 120)

Seems to have fixed it for me, when i played at max resolution it rebooted PC within 5mins, put it back down to 1920x1200 and it was stable for 2 games, had to actually quit the game for the first time ever when i wanted to stop!

@Obliviate82 Is the game still working for you with 21.10.2 driver?

Yeah I am seeing this same issue. Yesterday is when my crashes started to happen and caused 3 pc crashes throughout the day. For me it only happened when I was in game playing a match either 10 minutes in or at the end of the match.

All of my drivers are up to date, PC is up to date and no files are showing as corrupted. The day before none of this was happening and the game ran fine other than the data error everyone is getting.

Summarize your bug Randomly the PC make a rebbot, everything goes black and the pc restarts. Happens ingame, in the menus, in the endscreen and while idling.

So far i have updated the gpu drivers, the bios.
I made temperaturechecks and everything was alright
there's more than enought power to run all this

i've testet all the display setting, low resolution, fps cap, fiullscreen, windowd and so on
ive run the System File Checker and it fixed a few files - no help

i reinstalled the game, i reinstalled on a different ssd
i've unplugged all usb-devices that i dont need to play the game
i've run bf and origin as administrator

i've enabled direcx12 in the config
i've disabled the shadows in the config

non of this helped a bit so far - pls tell me what to do, this is dissapointing to the max =)

i have almost 12h ingame and was able to finish like 5 games so far

add: downgraded my nvidia driver to the build from the beta - 496.13 - with a very fresh install.
pc just rebooted after ~40 min of playing

@Showboater  You're a mfn' saint! I never thought to play at that low of a resolution because yuck of course. I do that and the game literally never crashes, I got up to 1920x1080 and didn't want to push my luck any further, but 3 games deep and that's definitely longer than 30 seconds. I can FINALLY grind this damn game. I want your Paypal. 

I have had a couple of crashes to desktop and one reboot, it doesn't completely fix it but it makes it at least playable for a few rounds before it crashes.

Hopefully they get a fix released for this soon!

It may be worthwhile checking that your PC power supply is at or above the minimum power requirements of your GPU.

This is more likely to be an issue if you upgraded your GPU at some point.

i have a 750w power supply, and i havn't changed my gpu since i've bought the pc
i've monitored the power usage of my gpu and cpu and i was not even close to the maximum.
also the game is rebooting the pc even idling in the menus, when nothing is going on.
like i've said, yesterplay i've played 3 rounds w/o any problem. but after the third game it rebooted while in the menus
while playing the gpu is at ~2% usage

there's no error or anything in the DxDiag? ☹️

add: just to make sure, i've just orderen a new 850w supply, that will arrive tomorrow.
i'll let you know if it changed anything

add: and like i've said, i dont had these problems withing the beta at all.
so something must have been changed, that's causing these troubles : /

I maybe found a solution.

First, I've done this : 

Min : 10%

Max : 95%

Then, I've updated my chipset, not going on the website of the motherboard but on the site of the chipset (amd).

And then that, I've updated my bios (last version).

Now, I'm able to launch the game, and play.

I've made 2 games, no reboot.

Then I rebooted my computer, launching the game, join a game, all ok. Quit the game, relaunched, staying on the hub for 30min, no reboot.

I've just an error 2600J something like that on the boat screen, but the game is working.

Maybe this may help.

- High probability of virus (Explorer.exe and explorer.exe) - Use another antivirus to identify which is the legitimate windows process.

- iCUEDevicePluginHost  - Corsair driver errors.

- Monitor component temperatures with Msi Afterburner.

- Check if the electrical power source supports your hardware.

- If viruses, trojans... are found in the operating system, format and reinstall everything again.

- Use only programs provided by the manufacturer to update drivers.

Same exact same thing. I'll just be playing and my computer turns off. Sometimes I'll be instant or 15, 30, 60, 120 minutes in. Very inconsistent. It didn't happen at all on days 1 and 2. Now it's all the time. Doesn't happen in any other game or when I'm just watching videos. Didn't happen during the beta but I was using Win 10. My power supply is plenty powerful and I've tried different ones. Temps are just fine. I know I"m running Win 11 but it's still Windows NT 10.0 (Windows 10). Paid $70 for this. Absurd.
