@Tomalz, do you get the same error when you reboot the game, PC and repair the game via Origin? Anything from the dxdiag?
ive only gotten the anti cheat version once. since then its just says failed to load. But i did just put in a ticket at webroot as thats what they instyalled on this new computer i bought from Xidax
and i dont want to have to uninstall it and go buy bitdefender AGAIN. lol. but i will if thats what it takes. I also just finished sending all this informastion to easy anticheat too. so i guess i wait..... more waiting....
Oh and its also loading the game by itself. 6 attempts in the last 20 minutes.

Hey @Tylerr_Sama,
Actually, yes. I can see that indeed Origin + BF2042 crashes quite a few amounts of times on your system. I can also see from your DxDiag that this results in a BEX64 error code. A lot of times this has something to do with either an Overclock of the CPU or GPU, malfunctioning drivers of the CPU or GPU, or Windows itself that block the game from launching properly. There is a good thread on the Microsoft Forums about this error as well here. So I followed the steps for the link you provided and it didn’t fix anything. Before the update on the 9th I could load in no problem. I can play Insurgency Sandstorm which also uses Easy Anti Cheat. Just not BF2042?

@Tylerr_Sama, and you get the exact same error?
@Birchell7610, you also get the exact same error with Webroot not installed on your PC?
Yeah (Failed to start the game 🏈 )

@Tylerr_Sama, can you post a fullscreen screenshot of the issue happening when you perform a clean boot? @EA_Leeuw I have the same error. The game was working fine until the last week. I have Win 11 with Windows Defender (no 3rd party AV) with all updates.
I tied everything that I could find:
- Running BF2042 repair in Origin
- Clean boot
- Disable UAC
- EAC Service repair utility (EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe)
- EAC Game Errors Solution Guide
- EAC Service update - EAC have v5.0 there and BF2042 includes v4.0
- Windows System File Checker / Deployment Image Servicing
- Running Origin, EAC, and BF2042 as Administrator
- Uninstalling and installing back the latest Nvidia drivers and Nvidia Experience
- Uninstalling and installing back Origin
- Uninstalling and installing back BF2042
- Disabling Real-time and Tampering protection in Windows Defender
- Other fixes
Nothing helped.
My DxDiag and screenshots are attached.
A couple of observations:
- When EAC is launched it always shows 2 EAC splash screens appearing one after another and staying on together (see screenshots)
- While I was re-downloading BF2042, when it was partially playable - it worked! I started it and played a round with bots. After this I exited the game, it finished downloading and stoped working again.
All ideas exhausted, need help
here it is
@EA_Leeuw, I solved the problem with BF/EAC not starting.
In DxDiag, I noticed that the app at fault is nvcontainer.exe.
It turned out to be NVidia Container from NVidia Control Panel.
When I tried to open it, it was not responding, so I uninstalled it and re-installed it from Microsoft App Store.
And... it fixed the problem, and I can play BF2042!
@EA_Leeuw Sort off i guess? I can see the anti cheat load and after that i get 1/4 of my screen top left corner trying to load the game as a black screen. After that it just stops and quits the game.
- Birchell76104 years agoSeasoned Newcomer@EA_Leeuw I'm not too keen on taking the time and going through the hassle of uninstalling Webroot. Maybe if I get desperate enough.
- @EA_Leeuw As it turned out, my problem was webroot. It was blocking alot of stuff on my PC, things i use to keep some of my privacy. So I dumped it and went back to bit defender. All good now.

Hey @YLD_fox,
Please also note that Windows 11 is not officially supported by any EA program or game at the moment. Therefore this can also result in issues. But I am very glad to hear that you got it solved again by reinstalling the Nvidia panel! 🙌

@Tomalz, good to hear that the issue has been resolved by switching to another AV suite! - EA_Leeuw4 years ago

@Tylerr_Sama, ty! It could be that you're having the same issue as @YLD_fox mentions: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Failed-to-start-the-game-2/m-p/11111944/highlight/true#M17985
Would you be able to check this maybe? - Casmo04 years agoSeasoned Newcomerso i may have found a work around.....? i downloaded (avg) antivirus "just the .exe for install.... i clicked the installation and than ran bf2042 and it started right up lol..... i canceled the install and it failed to start again . get the install from avg website and try as a work around. just launch the avg installer and do nothing with it. leave the installer open and launce the game. lemme know if it worked. also i was drunk off my * finding this.. confirmed by sober me....launched game it failed... relaunched the game using the same method and it ran... maybe a fluke worth a try tho.... i also use webroot.. didnt have to shut it down or uninstall/ install anything.
