Re: Input temporarily freezing

@WarFish888 Hey I may have found a solution, that worked for me. For Windows 10, Go to Device Manager and disable "Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator". It's under Software devices. This accidently fixed my game cause I was also trying to fix another bug for a different game and after I did this I noticed it fixed both of them.

@spankystanky Thank you for the suggestion. I am running Windows 11 and will try this tonight. I found the driver in Device Manager and disabled it already but I can't play until later tonight. I'll report back here with my results.

FYI, since the Season 4 release my freezing has changed slightly. It still freezes regularly twice every 2 minutes but the freezing is different now. The freezing lasts about 2-4 seconds each time and the screen is completely frozen (no movement at all). It used to be that the freezing would be somewhat stuttery, but now it just completely stops. Very weird, and still gets me killed so many times where I would not otherwise be killed.

Looking forward to trying it out tonight.

@spankystanky Wow, I played Conquest and TDM tonight for about 3 hours and didn't have any freezes at all. I scared to be optimistic about it, so I'll have to play another couple of nights without freezes to be comfortable saying it's fixed for me, but it sure looks good so far! Thanks a ton man! I will be so happy if this issue is solved for me!
Do you know why that device caused the freeze-ups? Maybe a link to what you found as the cause so we can learn too?

@SkykingUS-Eh From the post I got it from was about Tekken 7 freezing at random points like the bug we have and all it has in it is just a guy saying he had the bug before and that what he did to fix it. Not really sure how the technical part of disabling it and fixing it goes. But if you want a link here you go: https://www.reddit.com/r/Tekken/comments/qvxlzd/random_double_upleft_frame_drop_stutter_bug/
Note: I looked around a little bit and people were saying that disabling it could cause problems when you have a printer hooked up like losing functionality to the printer.

@spankystanky Thanks for the link, I'll check it out later. Yeah, I looked up the device on Google too and read that it is mostly used for older devices like old printers and scanners and serial port stuff and might affect how old drivers are installed for those old devices. I don't have any old devices like that so I'm gonna leave it disabled on my system for a while to see if it still solves my freezing issues permanently.
Thanks again for posting here bud, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it - I love the BF games, but I was losing my mind with the constant freezing.

Sadly, it did not work for me, even after reinstalling the game, the issue persists. I'm running Windows 11, on Ryzen 5600X, RTX3060 and 32GB of RAM.
Anyone have another thoughts on this issue?

@WeltyStark Just leaving a feedback, that I've been playing in Windowed Mode (yeah, that sucks) for last few days, and the freezing seems to have stopped. I'll continue playing in this * mode until the next update, to see if anything changes.
  • @WeltyStark Not sure if it matters, but I always play in full screen windowed mode or borderless mode (whatever they call it). Not full-screen.

Yeah, I usually play in Border less too, but was getting the freezes. And the weird part is this only happens in BF2042, no other game that I play in this system behaves like that.

  • @WeltyStark Same with me - only BF2042 has the issue (no other games I play). Must be something weird with the controller input code is my guess.

I'm late to the party but thank you, this worked for me. I cleared shader in Windows and after that it was just a mess, this cleared the problem right up.
