Season 4 Keybind issues

The format of the settings file changed. It is longer and has more lines. So just overwriting with an old one does not work really. 

For me it was easiest to change movement and weapons selection back by hand ...

I am starting to think they are doing this on purpose. I'm sure we are not dealing with mature men but with a bunch of kids straight out of college. This has been happening for a very long time. With that being said let me go back and spend another several hours rekey bind my keyboard key again. 

Same here. This really is salt in the wound. How on earth do they think nuking everyones controls will be okay?

I am a looong time fan but, honestly, this sort of thing is simply inexcusable.

Check out this old thread of mine from last April, specifically the bit where an EA community manager said this should be the last time this happens.  Yeah, OK buddy.

For PC players that have heavily modified keybinds... sorry this only helps if you haven't updated the game and launched it, or if you have backups of your settings...

Before you upgrade Battlefield 2042 to the new update that came out today, make a copy of your PROFSAVE_profile file (Located here by default: C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings) as the new update resets keybinds to default

After updating the game, launch the game once and then quit out.

Open your copy of "PROFSAVE_profile" and copy all of the lines that contain "KeyBinding" (Should be, roughly, lines 1 through 2,140)

Paste these copied lines over the lines in the new PROFSAVE_profile file that the game created after launching.

Save changes and launch the game.

Depressingly bad.

tired of resetting every setting just because they kill everything for an update

How hard can it be ? 

To exclude or merge current user settings.

Eveyone is looking to explore the new map, being dissapointed they cant throw a f... nade anymore.

Fix the issue with your backups of the user profiles instead of keeping your customers hanging.

Very very poor.
