Hey @sk1lld,
Do you maybe have a 3rd party Antivirus installed that could be constantly guarding the Documents folder? In general it is always a good practice to make an exclusion for the Documents folder to possibility prevent this from happening in the future.
As a test, if you have a 3rd party AV installed, or even only Microsoft Defender, can you make an exclusion for the Documents folder and see if it keeps happening? - sk1lld4 years agoLegend
@EA_Leeuw I'm running the default Windows defender. This is the 3rd time my settings have been reset.

@sk1lld, alright, can you make an exclusion for the Documents folder in Defender?
I would also like to recommend to check if the Origin clous saves could be the issue here.
Can you see if the following works for you:
- open Origin as normal
- click in the upper-left corner on Origin > Application settings
- click in the top bar on Installs & Saves and disable Origin Cloud
- save and reboot Origin
- start BF2042 and check your settings, change something if needed
- close game & Origin & reboot PC
- open Origin again and re-enable Origin cloud saves
- open BF2042 and if it asks you to replace saves, click on the field that says to replace the cloud saves with the local saves (override cloud with local)
- see if the settings are still the same or reset - sk1lld4 years agoLegend

Thank you.
what's the issue with BF2042, every 4th or 5th time I launch the game it RESETs my settings as if I just bought the game that day.
is there a fix for this?
why dose this happen....
no im not alt + f4-ing i close the game from menu quit to desktop every time. and i swear 4th, or 5th game launch it resets my settings ALL settings...GFX, controls, bindings...i even have to watch the stupid tutorial introduction...good lord, what a joke.
so damn annoying........
c'mon EA/DICE give your heads a shake ffs
- @JudgmentOfHelion Are you launching origin and checking to be sure your account is active prior to launching the game? Could be an authentication server connection issue. I've seen this bug only once since launch.

I don't know why it's happening, but you can keep a copy of the BF2042 folder in Documents as a backup. Then just paste BF2042 folder back into Documents when the save file gets corrupted.
Maybe try turning off Origin Cloud Storage in the Origin app. If you're using Steam maybe see if it has a cloud storage feature too and turn it off.

Hey @JudgmentOfHelion,
Can you try the steps that I mentioned above?
And do you have something like OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Drive installed by any chance?
@sk1lld, has the issue been resolved for you? 🙂
