Do you maybe have a 3rd party Antivirus installed that could be constantly guarding the Documents folder? In general it is always a good practice to make an exclusion for the Documents folder to possibility prevent this from happening in the future.
As a test, if you have a 3rd party AV installed, or even only Microsoft Defender, can you make an exclusion for the Documents folder and see if it keeps happening?

@EA_Leeuw I'm running the default Windows defender. This is the 3rd time my settings have been reset.

@sk1lld, alright, can you make an exclusion for the Documents folder in Defender?
I would also like to recommend to check if the Origin clous saves could be the issue here.
Can you see if the following works for you:
- open Origin as normal
- click in the upper-left corner on Origin > Application settings
- click in the top bar on Installs & Saves and disable Origin Cloud
- save and reboot Origin
- start BF2042 and check your settings, change something if needed
- close game & Origin & reboot PC
- open Origin again and re-enable Origin cloud saves
- open BF2042 and if it asks you to replace saves, click on the field that says to replace the cloud saves with the local saves (override cloud with local)
- see if the settings are still the same or reset- sk1lld4 years agoLegend

Thank you.
