Battlefield 2042 Gold Edition on PC, just purchased this morning.
Every time I try to launch the game I get this error "There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall your game." I have tried all of the fixes, install windows media feature pack (already had), reinstall direct X, reinstall visual studio C++ (already installed), verify game files, reinstall easy cheat, run files as administrator, repair game from Origin, finally uninstalled game and re-downloaded and still have the same problem.
Hope someone can help, thank you.
Edit - The log report from Origin said that I was missing "vcruntime140_1.dll", this dll for some reason did not get installed. Google led me to downloading VC_redist.x64.exe from Microsoft, after installing this I could finally play. Hope this helps someone else.

- 4 years ago@locknload762 Where is this log file you speak of? EA was kind enough to not create an adequate debugging interface for end users.

I found the log file located here - C:\ProgramData\Origin\Logs. This is where it was showing that I was missing that file.

Where do you put the new file once you download it? I found the vcredist executables and copied the exe files there, then I get the empty black screen at launch.

Here are the steps for updating...
- Make sure you're connected to the internet. 'Multiplayer' games require the internet. The internet is also the way we send game data to your device.
- You will need to make sure you have enough storage for the game.
- You will also need electricity to you home or dwelling. If you have no electricity, try restarting your device.
- If you do not have a home or dwelling, contact you internet provider.
- If you don't have a device, consider purchasing one then restarting it. A device is required for BF2042.
- If after following the above you still experience issues, reinstall BFV.
- The EA App is our crowning achievement in gaming interfaces and is powered by a huge 43mg Microsoft Excel file.
- The EA App is in BETA 'cos while there's impressive formulas and macros under the hood what Gavin wrote, he protected the whole workbook before he quit and we don't have his password.
- Happily, 40% of the time, the EA App works 12% of the time. *
- EA App road map includes but not limited to:
- Being able to uninstall EA App
- Being able to reinstall EA App
- Being able to update a game * (Much requested feature. This can be easily achieved in under 8 hours, however we believe we can reduce this even further)
- Being able to calculate game patch size in relation to download size
- Being able to reinstall game without uninstall/reinstall EA App * (This process/sequence can now be achieved in as few as 48 steps. EA recommends Perfect Uninstaller and electricity)
- We require you to use EA App for BF2042.
- EA App is currently not supported.
Good day to you.

Hi everyone,
After the release of season 6 I got the error message "problem with game's setup. please reinstall" after the EA anticheat splash screen.
The game was working well before.
I tried everything that solved the problem previously :
- Reinstall C++ Redistributable x86 and x64
- Reinstall DirectX
- Reinstall EA App and clearing cache
- Reinstall BF2042 et repair
- Update windows and GC
- Reboot PC
Thank you for your help

It is likely you are missing specific files, downloading and installing the following should help:

If you happen to have an 'N' Edition of Windows, download and run the following Media Feature Pack, thanks.
