Actually, an update is pulling down now in the EA app. Let's hope it's been addressed.
So, the new update may have fixed the squad issues. I joined into a Conquest 64 server and I was the squad leader.
I noticed other squad mates asking for orders and saw the objectives on the left side of the HUD.
I didn't let them takeover my Squad Leader role, so I'm not sure if that's fixed, but it seems promising.

Its actually been fixed for a few days now. It had been broken since the uh-60 update and I guess it was something easy enough to fix without having a game update. Was a very annoying bug though, so glad it's fixed!
