Stuttering issues and low frame rates since last update

  • @BarkSideOfTheMoo What did ya do for trouble shooting?
    Post a dxdiag please !
Also try a cleanboot first to see if it solves any issues with other software.

    Cleanboot / Msconfig

reboot pc by a clean boot:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd
Hide all Microsoft services, DISABLE (uncheck) ALL other processes, apps and services !

Cleanboot is just a one time clean boot ! Next reboot all will be reset and a normal boot will be occure.
Use msconfig to disable apps permanent each for new reboot.
DISABLE ALL other processes, apps and services from booting with windows, check instructions below:
Use the keyboard shortcut “Windows Key + R” and the “Run” window will open.
In the text box, typ MSCONFIG and press Enter or OK and the MsConfig window will open".
Select the tab STARTUP (select OPEN TASK MANAGER), and disable apps/programs by right click at them!
Those disabled apps will no longer boot with Windows , till ya set them enabled again !

    Update us please !
  • Having the same issue. I installed the game 2 days ago and I'm getting a constant micro sutter during gameplay. I have a 5900X, 3080, 32GB RAM running the game off an nvme. I never had this issue before. The game uses 100% CPU core usage no matter what in-game settings you lower.

I have no other apps open so there is nothing for me to close. This is the only game affected by CPU usage I own. I hope this post gets enough track for devs to realise something is wrong.

  • Hey, @BarkSideOfTheMoo  @superbutterpt  can you try a clean boot to see if any programs are messing with Battlefield 2042 and turn off any overlay programs, such as Discord or Nvidia experience.

Can you add a Dxdiag so we can see what hardware and drivers you have?

Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂

  • @EA_Atic I think I have found one of the causes of all these reported stuttering problems occurring since Season 3. I have been plagued with stuttering issues and I have a 4090 and a 5950x on 32 GB of ram. I would get non-stop stutters, especially in firefights.

For some reason in the documents/Battlefield 2042/Settings/PROFSAVE_profile the game will set the below commands to the wrong settings even if they are correct in your game.

    GstRender.FullscreenRefreshRate 174.970993
    GstRender.ResolutionHeight 1600
    GstRender.ResolutionHertz 174.970993
    GstRender.ResolutionWidth 3840

Make sure the above commands are set to your monitor's refresh rate and resolution. The game for some reason has them at 0 when you open the config file.

Also, I found some benefits in setting the below to 1.

    GstRender.Dx12Enabled 1

    Give it a try.

@_SiN_acai_ i have the almost the same problem as described in this thread https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/CPU-Spikes-FPS-Drops/m-p/12103880#M37671

    My refreshrate was GstRender.FullscreenRefreshRate 143.973007
while my Hertz was GstRender.ResolutionHertz 60.000000

i changed the hertz to match the refreshrate but it didnt solve anything, still stutters ingame after 5 minutes after the round starts

DX12 was allready enabled, ive tried to change some settings in the prof_save before... well since season 3 i try to get this game back to work becouse apparently the developeners wont do anything about it anytime soon. i guess they are allready in the holidays, whats are a few hundred customers with gameproblems... right ?

i was really hard on hopium on this one that my game would work again....
  • Same issues, game was fine until recent update. Changed every setting possible and still same. EA PGA Tour 2023 on Xbox Series S

  • Hi,

Since the New Dawn update ( and never before ) my FPS are so low it's absolutely unplayable.

Got a Ryzen 9 5900X, RTX 3090, latest drivers, 32 GB or RAM, Gen 4 SSD. I used to get about 110 fps in-game on average. Now I'm hovering around 20-30 in the BEST of cases. The game is absolutely broken for me and there's nothing I can do.

I tried a repair of the game and it didn't fix anything. I could reinstall but I don't see why that would work. I'm open to suggestions...

    DXdiag attached.

    Thanks!
