Sadly that did not work. Seeing the game works even when shoing this message (and not showing it at all when launching from dekstop), Can I safely play without the chance of losing my progression? New challenges are up today and I would like to complete them.
Yeah you should be okay to keep playing to be honest, since you own the game standalone. You should also not lose your progress because of this issue.
However, I would still ask you to give the above-mentioned steps one more try. I have checked with the teams and it could be that a soft-update of the EA app just released that fixes this issue, not 100% sure.

I just did it again, and now I get the message that my account is restricted from online play (when I launch from the EA app). When I launch from desktop, everything is fine ☹️
- 4 years ago
to make it even more weird: every other launch I do, the game gives me the error when launching from the EA app.

also, just to be clear:
- I do not have any bans on my account,
- All this stuff is not happening when launching from desktop.

Hey @moepkid101,
That is indeed very, very strange. So now you get other errors?
And when you try to launch the game from Origin, please give this a try, do you also get errors?
And do you still not get errors when you launch the game via Desktop shortcut? - 4 years ago
From desktop there are 0 errors. I will try origin later today.

@moepkid101, cheers, appreciate it. - 4 years ago
I just started origin, and it says battlefield 2042 (trial) in the download manager.
To make it more accurate:
- Origin started downloading / veryfying battlefield 2042 trial
- It now proceeds to download / verify battlefield 2042 ultimate edtion
- I am going to remove the trial version, to see if everything keeps working.
I cannot delete the trial version. If I launch the app through EA app, it still has the same error: Every other launch, it says trial version (no "not allowed to polay" error anymore).

So I did some things and I found out the following:
- I installed through origin, it did install the game without the "trial" exe version
- When I move the install folder to the EA games folder and let the EA app redownload it, it added the trial exe
- I started through the desktop and the installed section of the EA app": Everything works fine.
- I start the game through the sidebar of the EA app, and it gives me the trial error.
- I removed the trial.exe file, and when launching through the sidebar of the ea app, every other time it complains about not finding the trial.exe version

So I tested it some more and I Only get the error throught the EA app, unrelated to if the game installed through the EA app or Origin, and only every other time when clicking the play button in the sidebar of the EA app.

I made the choice today to remove the ea app and just keep with Origin for now. Origin doesnt give me any errors and everythign works fine. I reinstalled the game just to be sure. Only thing is origin gives a breakpoint error whenever I close windows. This seems to be a known issue.

@moepkid101, gotcha, so the EA app is the blame after all. Hmm, this is indeed a pretty odd issue, haha. I will see if I can pass this on to the EA app teams, so they can take a look into what could be causing this. I haven't seen this situation happening before, so it could be an edge case.
I'm happy to hear that it works without issues via Origin though. The EA app is still in beta after all, so it could be that one of the upcoming updates to the EA app solves this issue automatically.
