Two BF2042 copies, one bought on Origin, the second one on Steam

Hello,

I bought Battlefield 2042 soon after its release and played through Origin. When the game improved after a year, I tried it again, this time with the new EA app launcher. All good.

Then I bought my daughter her copy of the Battlefield 2042 game on Steam sale recently. She installed the game on the same computer. She has her own Win 10 account and her own EA account, as well as a Steam account. At the end of her Battlefield Steam installment, the link between her Steam and EA account was created. All good.

She played the game just to try it out. All Good

Then I log in to my Win 10 account and try to launch my copy of Battlefield 2042. It failed. The EA app refuses to launch the game - it points to the directory where Steam installed my daughter's copy. This must be a bug.

We deinstalled BF2042 from her Steam account and after "reinstallment" of my copy on my win 10 account, on my EA account, my BF2042 copy was again playable.

How do we make both copies, one Steam, one EA, on the same computer on different Win 10 accounts?

Many thanks!

(cm edit - moving to BF board)

    Hey @bbcooper,

This sounds indeed a bit odd and somewhat complicated.

I would like to take a closer look into this issue.

Could you perhaps share some EA app Error IDs, from both Windows 10 accounts where one is logged in with your own EA account and one is logged in with the EA account of your daughter?

Also, could you please share some EA app logs from both Windows 10 accounts?

    • Please .zip or .rar the following log files in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\Logs & %ProgramData%\EA Desktop\Logs and attach them to your post.

    Thank you!

  • Thank you for your advice. I filed a ticket with the same description as here via the EA Error Reporter.

Tried to attach the two log zip files, but it gives me the error "Unsupported extension type" for .zip and .7z files.

    Best regards

    Hey @bbcooper,

Did you manage to get the EA app Error IDs? If so, please share them here in the thread.

You should be able to upload .rar files.
