Unable to play on PC with a friend on Xbox
I'm currently having issues playing with a friend who is using an Xbox Series X/S while I am on PC
I have found his BF2042 profile in-game and have added him, he is unable to accept and now I can only simply "report" or "block" him.
I have since added him on EA play and while he has accepted, though his name still does not show up within BF2042 and we are unable to invite each other.
When I click "join game" under his profile, Windows asks me how I'd like to open this app (weird)
He cannot find my account in BF2042 and he is not showing up for me either.
We both have adult accounts
Both strong internet connections
He is running BF2042 X/S edition
Both of our games are fully updated
Is EA play and BF2042 really designed this badly? How can it be so difficult to add someone...

There's actually an issue affecting Friends lists across multiple titles. We have a thread for this here.
The issue is currently being investigated and we will update the thread I linked above once we know more.
