Been playing the past 2 weeks with little problems. Then Update 5 drops today - I update, and attempt to play - EAC screen loads to 100% - I get a brief splashscreen of the game - then crashes to desktop. I've tried EA app recovery, I've cleared the BF2042 cache folder. My drivers are up to date - this is total BS! And 3rd time I've had to go thru this mess.

Never had any issues till the other day
Same happening to me... when I first launched into the game on the day S5 dropped it would not even recognise it had to update so had to force a repair... I could then play fine for a while but it would occasionally crash out...
Not sure whats changed recently (I don't play that often) but now its straight to desktop while loading into a game...
I did the usual stuff to trouble shoot even reinstalled the game but still broken
I hope you find a fix as I am losing the will to live with how many problems games seem to have these days....

Few quick questions for ya:
Have you tried a Clean Boot?
Are you running any sort of VPN service?
Have you completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game?
I had this E X A C T same issue for about a week or so and finally found what was going on. I'll link the forum post below for ya. Hopefully with all the stuff we tried- something will help you out!
