@juiceua76 Followed all the steps in the video. My controller is not recognized by the game when I boot it up in Steam big picture mode. The only way my controller works correctly is if I boot up the game up in Origin with no Steam involvement at all.
I appreciate you working with us on this issue and am willing to try other options, but at the end of the day EA/DICE needs to fix this on Origin minus these workarounds. It's an EA game launched with an EA application.
- 4 years ago@GunforHire78 i agree 100% they need to fix it i made the video for people that are having the problem because 1 it's make the game playable and 2 i don't think EA is going to fix a issue like this when the have 3rd party apps blocked in their coding from what i was reading this was a issue with battlefield 4,5 fifa and Madden
when you did the steps in the video did the game load through origin app or through steam? i ask this because the 2 apps don't communicate- 4 years ago
@juiceua76 Open Steam > Open Library > Open Steam Big Picture > click Origin in Library and click Play > Origin loads up on my screen > start up BF 2042 > BF 2042 loads up and only mouse and keyboard are usable.
I made the changes to controller options as shown in your video in Steam Big Picture already.

thank you man it actually worked for me. I added EA Desktop App exe to steam and used the force steam input settings and now I'm able to use my PS4-Controller! But one thing to mention for people still having problems: You need to close Origin or EA App before launching it with steam in big picture mode! If EA App or Origin is already running in background before you launch it with steam it doesnt work! Also its recommended to change the controller settings in steam to not shut down the controller after 15 mins of non-usage! otherwise if it shuts down while you are still in game you cant simply turn it back on it wont be recognized by BF anymore. This is still a huge failure and evidence of incapacity of EA and its devs that you need to use another launcher to be able to use a controller. This is why I like to Support Steam its the best choice for consumers / gamers.
- 4 years ago@Shyney Yes this is correct Steam needs to open the app so any app connected to Battlefield needs to be closed before hand.. thanks for mentioning this somehow I forgot to add it to the video

I have EA play and managed to get in touch with EA support regarding this issue. Their elegant solution was for me to git gud and play with m+k because in that EA techs words, the game wasn’t designed to support controllers on pc. Obviously this is ludicrous and I’m sure EA would disagree with his statement. But the facts are the facts here and you can’t deny that EA/Dice has cared very little over a decade in addressing this issue. It shouldn’t take all these POTENTIAL work arounds on a AAA game like this.
