I have EA play and managed to get in touch with EA support regarding this issue. Their elegant solution was for me to git gud and play with m+k because in that EA techs words, the game wasn’t designed to support controllers on pc. Obviously this is ludicrous and I’m sure EA would disagree with his statement. But the facts are the facts here and you can’t deny that EA/Dice has cared very little over a decade in addressing this issue. It shouldn’t take all these POTENTIAL work arounds on a AAA game like this.

After the update, the game is still broken and wont work with controllers.
If the game isnt intended for controllers then why is there the controller option there in the game settings?
I would urge everyone who cant play this game review bomb the game and give it 1 star in as many review locations as possible.
Thats all we can do as EA wont be in any hurry to fix this. They aren't in the habit of fixing their mistakes for to fix them is to admit them. And EA never make mistakes.
Do they!!!!
- 4 years ago@ajello84 I have now got my sony DS4 controller working. I run origin through steam. Check your controller settings for origin / 2042 in Steam's big picture mode. I have the steam and origin overlays enabled...

I think I finally got the controller to start working ok by cobbling together a fix with help from folks in this thread. The video @juiceua76 posted helped a lot and @oNyeo 's mention of turning both Origin and Steam's overlay also helped. I also turned on "Use the Big Picture overlay when using a Steam input enabled controller from the desktop" in the Steam In-Game settings. So far I have played about an hour with no controller problems.
I seriously hope EA fixes this. I still am in disbelief that EA released a game on their own launcher/app that doesn't have something like controller support ready to go on day one. I've never experienced this on any other PC game with controller support, especially a AAA game.
