[Xbox Series X] crashing, sometimes hard crashes console (since launch)

This crashing on the Xbox Series X|S version of BF2042 on the Xbox Series X console has happened since launch, although one of the first few updates may have greatly increased the frequency of crashes. I played extensively on each update.

Look at my steps taken

-Crashes for me on Xbox Series X (not crashing on my PC, I play on both, 2 different accounts)

-Crashes usually occur during or after 1 match, sometimes you can play a bit longer

-Can also cause Xbox to shut off, usually proceeds a match or 2 of BF2042 after starting up the game again post-crash.

-Doesn't happen on any other game (I play 6 AAA titles on max settings frequently on the Series X with no crashing issues)

-Had 2 different Xbox Series X consoles and played BF2042 on both with same results

-Happened to all 6 ppl I know personally that have Series X who tried playing the game but, like me they cannot.

-Happens on both standard and preview versions of the Xbox system software

-Happens with both elite series 2 controller, standard Xbox controller

-no usb devices connected, still happens

-Turn off 4k/ HDR, tried 1440p, 1080p

-Uninstall/ Reinstall

-Install on internal/ external storage

-Unplug power 10 minutes

-Try using wall outlet directly for Xbox power as opposed to outlet strip/ surge protector

-Turn down fov, play modes 64 and under, change advanced network settings (dns 8.8.8.8/ 8.8.4.4, alternate Mac, alternate port selection), delete quick resume, change power settings, etc....

Can this be escalated to engineering teams at EA/DICE/ collab with Xbox devs for a solution finally? This has only crashed consistently on the Series X and notable the Xbox Series X|S version of the game, don't see ppl with the Series S complaining either. So, maybe something with the native 4k power optimization or a quick resume bug?

@EA_AticSo far, I'd say inconclusive yet surprisingly well. I've played for about 8 hours total since you suggested plugging the Xbox Series X power cable directly into the wall outlet. No crashing as of yet, but this needs more testing before it's considered a temporary solution that I know hundreds if not thousands of ppl have dealt with. I say "temporary" because we deserve an acknowledgement from EA/ DICE and possibly Microsoft as to why this only occurs on BF2042, and would likely require a patch to correct the problem. Unless somehow it's a hardware issue only triggered by one game.

Edit: I usually notice a game crash within 1 to 2 hours of playing followed by a full system crash If I jump right back into the game. After an additional 8 hours of playing I haven't noticed any crashing while Xbox Series X is plugged directly into the wall outlet.

@EA_Atic thank you, the crashing has stopped since ditching my surge protector/ outlet strip.

However, if surge protectors are the catalyst of only one game crashing... is this being looked at by developers/ engineers/ communicated to Xbox teams?

    Great to hear. @Forcerecon93,

Not that I aware of but the team are always looking at stability with the platforms. But will share it with the team.

@Forcerecon93could you try to use the wall plug instead and see if that helps. We seen this affect some players around the world.

    Hey Atic,

Happened to me too a few times, my Series X has been re pasted (Noctua thermal compound) and air compressed cleaned, it can run Modern Warfare 2 (MW2019 engine is notoriously resource heavy) for 8 hours straight without a peep.

I also feed it pure sine wave electricity, ultra clean and regulated via a specialized inverter.

Might help to reach out to partners at Xbox, you're about to get a large influx of them via Gamepass.

I have notified Aaron Greenbergh (Xbox) and some DICE folks too.

    Hope this gets resolved soon.

@EA_Atic Sorry to report, it's happening again after Season 3 update. Xbox Series X is still plugged directly into wall outlet, and BF2042 is crashing. All other games I play still perform fine.

It’s unplayable on XSX, crashing almost every game

disgraceful this don’t seem to being addressed

    Only game this happens with.
