10 'casual gaming' BF6 features which ruin gameplay for everyone (Updated)

Dice seems to pursue making BF6 as much 'casual' as possible to widen its fanbase. However, those "casual gamer’s" features just ruin BF6 gameplay for everyone.

  1. Red icons above the spotted enemies. This spotting feature allows easy blind killing while the enemies are covered with smoke or dust. It looks like some cheating feature embedded into the game:  Those red icons have to be removed from the screen and be visible only on the mini-map and a full-sized map. Dice should rework players’ models and colour correction instead to make players more visible.
  2. Hit registration indicator. It enables ‘blind shooting’ through smoke and dust from outside. It also indicates if the player's grenade hit someone even he didn’t see anyone there. This is another cheating feature embedded into the game and it has to be removed.

  3. Automatic health regeneration. This feature makes absolutely no sense. It’s neither fun nor realistic. In real combat a wounded soldier wouldn’t regenerate while bleeding to death without medical aid provided. Automatic health regeneration enables the players which have more powerful guns to kill enemies with less powerful guns taking some damage, then just wait for full health regeneration and start a new ‘kill-regeneration’ cycle. So automatic health regeneration has to be removed completely. Wounded players should regenerate using medical kits only.
  4. Aim assist for controller users. This is one more cheating feature embedded into BF6. Aim assist has to be banned for using w/ ‘crossplay on’ setting. And there should be a matchmaking option to filter the players by their input device regardles the platform they play.
  5. Unlimited sprint ability. It makes gameplay too fast due to the little sized maps. To make it more tactical and realistic the sprint ability should be limited to 1-2 minutes long before rest and there should be a stamina scale indicating sprinting time left or sprinting speed could be reduced. And the adrenaline injector which was pretty useless in Beta could give the assault class players an ability for unlimited sprint for a minute or two with higher speed. That would make it much more useful.
  6. Reduced sway for sniper rifles. EA has just announced that “Scope sway will be decreased, and the ability to stabilize your aim by holding your breath improves with the use of Sniper Rifles.” Scope sway was pretty subtle in Beta already. Reducing it will turn a sniper rifle into a ‘laser gun’, especially for using on bigger maps where sniper rifles have bigger advantage. That makes absolutely no sense. It’s neither fun nor realistic. Scope sway has to be prominent enough to prevent turning every match into ‘Snipers party’.
  7. Instant revive using a defibrillator. This move looks just comic (is defibrillator able to heal bullet wounds actually?) while making gameplay even faster and less realistic. Reviving using a defibrillator has to take more time. The player has to charge it each time before reviving another teammate.
  8. Revive request icons on the screen. They are just distracting and ruin immersion. This game isn't about some mech-warriors. Human soldiers don't have a screen infront of their face. This excessive UI has to be removed. The revive request icons should be visible on a mini-map and full-sized map only, not on the screen.

    9. Friendly fire disabled. This feature allows to shoot through the teammates making no damage to them, and to shoot with an RPG or a granade launcher into enemies when they are closing the teammates making damage to the enemies only. This feature make gameplay even more careless and chaotic. So friendly fire should be enabled by default. It can be inactive for some training type of matches or some dedicated "casual gameplay" servers.

    10. Sniper rifle 'sweet spot'. This feature enables a one-body-shot kill while shooting at any distance letting the shooter to be almost unreachable. Since the sniper rifle in BF6 is already kinda overpowered this feature makes no sense and has to be removed.

Bf has never been chaotic. Until now. All the hard core handed will be much less "arcade like" imo.

absolutely yes, with AA without AA, PCs are immensely superior to consoles that are extremely limited, and there are still PC players, who have no skills whatsoever, who come and say that the problem with the game is the AA on consoles, and DICE and EA buy into this idea of these whiners who can barely kill consoles...

  • Just for context, what is your definition of a 'casual' player? I hear this term a lot. Is it time spent playing, or is it an attitude, or something else?

IMO, casual gaming is about relaxation without any struggle or stress. That's why casual gaming is often considered as playing on easy  mode. That absolutely makes sense for the single-player games. However, making the multiplayer games casual  seems to be some kind of nonsense.  Making the multiplayer game too "easy"  makes it actually harder for casual players, because all other players have the same features. And it makes it less interesting for "hardcore" players the same time.  I believe there's no way to make it easy enough for "casual players" while keeping it interesting for the other ones.
