I don't know the real world parameters of the singer vs a jet at full speed, but I feel like a jet flying horizontal at full throttle plus afterburners should be able to out run a long distance stinger launch. There should be some skill involved, right now if feels like there is nothing you can do to avoid them. Especially given such tight map boarders for the jet.
If the jets can outrun a stinger, not only is it a good skill check, the stinger works as a proper deterrent, keeping jets away for a moment while they scramble away.
I have had several jets out run my stingers. My brothers and I were trying to swat down the F16 after we stole the SPAA. 2 MANPAD Stingers and 2 from the Gepard later... Jet is still ripping around dropping JDAMs.
