BIGGEST ISSUE - MAP DESIGN

Overall the game feels good, it could benefit with everything being slower down maybe 20%. Closed weapons should be the only option, and it's absolutely wild that support can hear and resupply AND put down a shield. In general every class has too much kit. Rush should be scaled up a bit, (damavand peak is the perfect example of how to nail Rush)

HOWEVER, the biggest problem by FAR is the MAP DESIGN. It's incredibly linear, small and forces you into choke holds with corridors. The map design is very reminiscent of COD. Most of the conquest maps the vehicles feel like they were placed afterwards as a afterthought.

Liberation peak has some potential... If it was 1.5-2x bigger. It has the potential to really bring home the bad company 2 alleged inspiration.

The Devs should take a step back and look at the heritage of battlefield and rethink the maps otherwise this will become very stale and most of the players will be gone come the next COD Launch...

Remember battlefield doesn't needs to pretend to be COD. It occupies a different space.

I hope this feedback doesn't fall on deaf ears, like most batas...

Thanks

You raise some good points there.
    My response

    • Slower down gameplay a bit
I agree the game feels too fast. But can't say why... I haven't played BF 3 / 4  in almost 10 years and don't have access to the stats. But if I remember correctly, the players movements were faster in BF3 and 4 and more fluid. Also the TTK there was fast. So I don't know that's the biggest issue here. I believe the total chaos of too many players on too small maps are the real problem. I don't have time to think because 4 other players are also shooting me form 5 different angles. Also it doesn't help if enemy can re-spawn without a real delay.

    • Closed weapons should be the only option
Your right to ask the developers to make a choice. We don't want the player base to split up. But if they choose to keep the open weapon system, I have some suggestions posted here: Open vs closed weapons? | EA Forums - 12440854. I think it can be an evolution from the old closed system, but there most be bigger incentives to use the right weapon and penalties to use an other class weapon.

    •  Some classes are overpowered
That's something I don't hear people say much, but is something I also agree upon. I think were missing a dedicated support and medic class here. But also the balance with the assault class seems a bit off.  I don't know why someone would keep using the recon class if thy can use a marksman / sniper rifle with assault class. There they have a second main gun, pistol and spawn beacon (if the change of the spawn beacon becomes a thing).

    • Map design
Yes, this seems to be the biggest problem here. Maps that are too small (in the beta) with too many players on them. It become a clusterfu_ck so fast. The beta maps seems not only small, they have linear and doll designs, with flags almost next to each other and unbalanced choke points. I hope there are some better maps in the retail game...

  • I agree

The map design is much too narrow, which makes everything feel overly hectic and therefore no tactics are being employed

    Thanks for your reply.

It seems we are in agreement on pretty much everything! And reading through other posts most people are saying similar things.

On another note I played BF4 yesterday too. It is probably just as fast in fairness. BF3 is slower and bad company 2 more still.

I don't think it's the inherent speed which is the issue. But something does feel off. I think perhaps it's how the weapons handle.

Let's hope they listen to the community and not get overconfident with the large amount of preorders and see this as "the game doesn't need changing"

Maps look so poorly designed. Threre are too many narrow lobbies and tiny rooms. Some of the lobbies just lead to the dead end. The Empire State map is total crap. There are just two huge buildings, where you got trapped like in  a maze. I played it twice and I hated it. I believe maps should be bigger while having more open space and less "roomed" structure.

That is the issue i found with current maps, there is no "travel time" between points. Maps got so condensed and enclosed in BF6 that you barely have any space between points where you could get out combat and plan your route to next point, now you just take a few steps and are already looking into the next point. In BF2 you had maps so big that you had to get a vehicle to get from one flag to the other, because the map was just so big, this also gave a lot of open space to strategize and flank people, in BF6 you are forced to always be in front of the enemy, no side routes, only from front. The reason the maps are small is to attract younger audience i guess who are more used to the constant dopamine rush of small CoD maps. I miss the days where a well hidden tactical sniper could tap someone from over 400 meters away from a remote hill and then be counter-sniped from another hill somewhere far away. One map that i remember with this is the BF2 Dragon Valley(64 player version), but this was an extremely big one or the BF4 Rogue Transmission map. We need to go back to the older way of designing maps size wise and then add more cover for infantry.
