Engineer and Support Are Having An Identity Crisis
The support class is super wonky. You either sit back as a support-by-fire role with extra ammo, cover, and an LMG, or you dive into the chaos reviving teammates… with the same LMG. It makes no sense. Engineers are usually running with vehicles or blowing them up, which are mostly long-range fights. They could use portable cover while repairing or reloading, and they’d be better off with an LMG and an ammo pack. Support is right in the thick of it, picking up teammates under fire. That’s where an SMG makes sense. Right now, it’s backwards. The ammo-spamming support-by-fire role and the revive-focused medic role should be separate. As it stands, support has no real identity, and engineer feels bland.
I imagine that five class system would help with issues:
- Assault: ARs, UBGLs, tactical ladders, beacon
- Medic: Carbines, defibs, med bag, deployable cover, trophy systems
- Support: LMGs, ammo box, mortar, xm-25 launchers
- Engineer: SMGs/Shotguns, repair tool kit, AT/AA launchers, AT mines
- Scout: DMRs/SRs, PLD, Spy drone, TUGS, C4, Claymore
