Protecting from cheaters

Dear Developers, Please Improve Reporting and Player Protection!

Reporting system

  • Please make reporting cheaters and spammers fast and easy.
  • In BF2042, even after 500+ hours, I still don’t know how to properly report — this should not happen.
  • Prevent abuse: only one valid report per player should count, so no one can spam the system.
  • Do not repeat the mistakes of CoD or CS.

Community Patrol

  • Use a community review system like FACEIT. Give rewards (e.g., unique skins) to players whose decisions are accurate 70%+ of the time. This way, the community helps you review cases for free, with real motivation to keep the game clean.
  • Add a reporting reputation rank to filter out players who just report everyone.

Protect Paying Users

  • Please protect players who purchased the game from free-to-play accounts with few hours. Paid users should have priority to play with each other without free-to-play users, who often bring many cheaters.
  • Free accounts should be placed in their own sandbox with low SBMM priority, and only after 200+ hours and verification can they play with premium users.
  • Motivate players to become Premium users with better servers and matchmaking.
  • Only verified accounts (phone or ID) should get higher priority in matchmaking.

Transparency

  • Please add killcams to see clearly how you were killed.

I think these steps will help identify cheaters, make the reporting process more reliable, and clarify SBMM for free-to-play users, without toxic community and cheaters. These types of players should have their own sandbox with users like them.

  • Agree, it should be very simple and fast, like in CS2 (CS:GO) for example - on PC - view scoreboard, press right mouse button to activate mouse cursor and select a player you want to report.

  • Everything they can do to get rid of cheaters is good and welcome. However, the best anticheat system was already invented decades ago, and it's called SERVER BROWSERS.

Private servers are always taken care of by the admins / moderators of those servers. And every admin / mod makes sure their servers are clean of cheaters.

Back when i used to play Unreal Tournament more than 2 decades ago, cheats like aimbot already existed. If you encountered any suspected cheater in a server, you could call an admin and report the suspected cheater, then the admin would spectate that player using the tools available to him, and the cheaters were usually banned from the server within minutes. This used to keep most of the servers clean, and games were fair most of the time.

There were no epidemics of cheaters, because the community and server admins acted as a live anti-cheat. So instead of having a small bunch of people trying to manage tens of thousands of cheat reports, you had hundreds of server admins actively banning cheaters in real time, for free.

Sadly, when games abandoned the server browser system and switched to automatic matchmaking systems, the ability of the community to keep the games clean disappeared.

Sounds about right, server browser is a must and this needs to be heard.
