So close to great but still needs work!

Over all the game is OK. Better than 2042 for sure but still not as great as 3 or 4. You guys have got REALLY close to having something magical and have done a lot of really great work on the game. However there are some KEY aspects of battlefield that are missing.

The Good:

  • The look is great. Amazing job on the environment and the models.
  • The sound is great. Some of the guns are just.... chefs kiss.
  • The destruction. While not as great as some of the levolution stuff that could happen in 3 and 4 the destruction is much improved over 2042. Thanks. I love seeing how things are destroyed towards the end of a round.

The Bad:

  • Why this fascination with open weapons? It's very clear that most people don't want it and we all know that you are trying to skew things so that you can say "see, people want open weapons". If you are so set on open weapons then just clearly give us the option. Every game modes should have both closed and open options. Or make closed the default like all other BF (except 2042) and then make open an option in portal. The people you are trying to drawn in with open weapons from other games, like CoD, are just going to leave when the next game, like CoD, comes out. Keep the long time BF fans happy and you will find success. Trying to emulate other games will make you lose the core fans the com back every time.
  • Private servers/server browser. You can support it. Those of us that are dev know it's not a crazy hard change. We have been asking for it for a long time. It needs to make a return. One of the things people liked most about older battlefield is playing in the same servers with the same people every time.
  • Bring back the building from V where you could reinforce a point with sandbags and gun placements. That was one of the biggest and coolest innovation that BF has done in a REALLLLLLLY long time.
  • Maps play less than great. They look good. The destruction is good but they don't play like old BF maps. There is way too much run and gun chaos and less intentional movement that is required with trying to assault and defend a point. The flags in conquest are way too close to each other.
  • Too Many small maps. Having a few small maps is ok, Operation Locker and Grand Bizarre we fun but I don't want that to be what most maps are about. You're beta not having a big map like other previous games did is very concerning to me.
  • Flight model is not great. I would personally like to see a return of the model from 3 and 4. I really enjoyed piloting an helicopter in those games.
  •  Class balance is off by a little bit. I really think that Assault should have medic stuff that way it's more likely that people will be medic. Give insertion beacon to support. If you are going to keep support and medic combined then you need to remove weapon sling from assault. It's far too powerful and will result in less medics all around and this is coming from a medic main. Weapon sling also breaks the balance of long range vs close range.
  • Auto Spotting needs to go. ASAP. I'm ok with recon having a tool that can do that for them but there is zero reason it should exist for all classes for free.

Lastly. Don't nerf shotguns. The reason they feel insanely strong right now is two fold. 1) There is little to no drawback to weapon sling and bring both a med range assault rifle and a shotgun. 2) Map design benefits run and gun shotgun plan over others. As someone who likes shotguns and will gladly take the handicap at longer ranges I don't want to be in a position where shotguns only make sense for assault when used with weapon sling.

Thanks devs for all the hard work. Keep it up and listen to your core fans. Not some corporate MBA who doesn't play video games.
