Why BF6 is trash (from a BFBC2, BF3,BF4, BFONE Vet)

Intro to my rant:

Battlefield 3 was and still is my all time favorite battlefield title. The game was PEAK battlefield experience. Teamwork was essential, comms to your teamates were necessary to have an impact on the battlefield vehicles were diverse, felt responsive, powerful, and had major impact on the course of the battle. You had to play smart in order to survive and combat actually felt fun and real.

In BF6 none of this is is true, every experience i've had in the beta feels more like call of duty. Combat feels waaay too fast paced you can barely take a moment to breathe. Everyone is constantly running like chickens with their heads cut off. No one is making tactical choices because you just die and respawn in 5 seconds. Teamwork is completely absent outside of your immediate squad and thats if your squad even decides to work together.

VEHICLES:

Vehicles are glass cannons that get taken out in a matter of seconds with just a few engineers and no one responds to pings for repairs despite there being dozens of players on your team. Air vehicles are the worst i have ever played in ANY title not just the battlefield franchise. I LOVED the air combat of BF bad company, 3+4, and BFONE somehow you managed to s*** on the best part of the game for me. Physics in aircraft are completely out the window and the controls seem like they were designed by someone overdosing on fent. Nothing makes sense and even if you do manage to figure out how to fly them their impact on the battle is completely negated by the fact that you have 12 iglas insta locking onto you the moment you countermeasure the last one. How did this make it past the testing phase?!?!

CLASSES+WEAPONS:

The return to classes is the only positive i can really say in my time im the beta, the classes feel as good as i remember but i will never understand your decision to make all weapon types availible to all classes. Customization on the weapons seems nice from the preview we've gotten but the weapons themselves leave much to be desired.

Weapon damage modeling is completely broken and doesn't seem grounded in any reality 3 shots from a DMR for a kill 5+ shots from an LMG for a kill or 3+ shots for an AR are not realistic across the board and fails to account for distance or muzzle velocity.

There is seemingly no bullet drop at all with AR's and LMG's and the Sniper class is the most unfun it has ever been in a BF title. Some of my favorite moments in previous titles has been pulling off sick 2000m headshots but in this game even equipping a sniper is a chore. What is the point if you are going to be seen the moment you spawn in across the map because you have sniper glint 24/7. The automatic spotting is a huge downgrade from having to actually visually identify targets and mark them for your team sending out a com over the radio.

MAPS:

The maps we got in this beta are heavily disappointing for me personally. There is seemingly no thought laid out in the map design thr map feels like its just cobbled together with AI and then you edited them to make them feel more like a real environment. What happened to the amazing city scapes of BF4 or the big open maps prime for taking up sniping positions? Every map in the beta is filled with tight corridors and little potential for locking down areas with your team. Battlefield is at its best when you have areas that can be held down with an smg indoors or lighting up squads in an alley with an LMG but there weren't any opportunities in this beta i saw at all where an SMG would be viable.

 Conclusion:

This game feels like you saw warzone and decided to remake the battlefield franchise in order to appeal to 12yo CoD kids. Idk what EA did to kill the soul the team at DICE used to have but the studio has seriously gone downhill in quality since i was a kid and enjoying the hell out of your games.

I probably have thousands of hours logged into battlefield games and really was looking forward to BF6 being that game that brought me back into the franchise but this has been the biggest gaming letdown of the year for me and with release being less than 2 months away it is impossible for you to fix all the issues this beta exposed within that time frame.

I will not be pre-ordering after everything i have experienced in this beta.

  • As a bf vet from the very start (1942 I was at uni when that came out) I completely agree with everything you have written, I will say I did have some fun while playing the beta and it’s the most battlefield we have seen for a long time. However it wasn’t the same as what we had and there is clearly a lot of work and changes needed to bring this back to what the fans have been asking for and considering the fans have been basically been asking for a modernisation of 3 / 4 it feels like (and I appreciate it’s a beta) we have gone backwards in some areas. BF players are not COD players, something which seems to have been missed. I played in a couple of clans for both BF3 and 4 and it was the team play and difficulty that made you have to work together, there was no running off on your own getting 20 kills per life using the latest meta gun. It does feel now like TTK in particular has turned this into COD (don’t like the sliding) with Apex Legends type TTK. If you make it so that people don’t have chance to respond when being shot at they will leave the game in droves. Thats why when all the sweaty streamers piled on COD / Warzone and APEX the rest of the world abandoned ship. Shooting and killing people should be part of the game, but strategy and teamwork is what makes a battlefield game. I was also shocked at how weak vehicles feel now, and again I appreciate you have not released the full tech trees yet. However, tanks were being instantly destroyed as soon as they left spawn. Those AT mines were crazy powerful, then with too many people being squashed onto the maps there were so many rockets they didn’t stand a chance. So instead of the Bradley being feared it was dumped on and instantly wiped out. I would either increase the number of RPGs these vehicles can take and perhaps make firing weapons which I am sure are coming like the javelin require two people to fire again adding to the team play.
