I agree. Battlefield 2042's portal and solo/co-op system was wonderful. It allowed progression up to a certain point, gave limited xp, and well allowed the player to obtain trophies/achievements that they may have found somewhat difficult in your standard PVP mode - speaking of which some of the trophies in BF6 are difficult - 10 melee kills in a single MP game is certainly luck+skill based. Whilst some trophies are just a downright slog... 1996 revives and now the defibs are broken, seriously!?
Battlefield 2042's PVE modal just worked, and allowed the player to enjoy both PVP or PVE at their leisure. The limited xp in portal/solo reduced the incentive of xp farms (players will always find a way), but allowed the casual gamer to also progress, albiet at a slower pace due to playing against bots, which is reasonable in my opinion.
The casual gamer shouldn't be punished for wanting to play PVE for genuine enjoyment... sometimes you just want to put some music on, and let loose on a few bots to relax after work.
P.S - Nice analogy on the superhero stuff!
