A Solution for Unrealistic Skins: Standardized Visuals Option

To preface my stance:I do not enjoy seeing exaggerated cosmetics in-game—like “Monster Energy”-style skins on soldiers. In fact, I would go further and say I don’t even want personalized bios on my classes. Personally, I’d prefer my character to just be another number in the squad.

That said, I understand that there’s a significant portion of the player base that does enjoy stylized or over-the-top skins for their characters and weapons.

So how can we satisfy both sides?

Add a toggle in the settings—perhaps under Accessibility or Gameplay—called something like:

  • “Standardized Skins”
  • “Uniform Appearance”
  • “Consistent Skin Override”

When enabled, this setting would ensure that you see your selected skins on all allies and/or enemies, regardless of what they’re actually wearing. This could include default faction skins, or even custom preset combinations you define. If you want total realism, you could make everyone look uniform. If you want to stand out, you could even choose to look different while still enforcing a consistent look on others.

Why this matters:
It’s an elegant solution that avoids splitting the player base. Those who enjoy wild cosmetics can still use them—and even buy them—without forcing others to experience them. Developers can continue designing premium skins for those who want them, while maintaining immersion for those who don’t.

In short: everyone wins. The only thing needed is player choice.

  • I don't mind the skins, well some are just cringy, but if they just stopped splashing yellow paint all over everything it would be better.

I don't think think they will though, why would someone buy a skin to either show off or purposefully pee people off if everyone could just hide it.

I think the bright yellows and stuff stem from the fc/fifa games, they have seen how many people are attracted to these garish colours.

Its all about max profits, if they sell ea don't really give a **bleep** what some players think.

The biggest critique to my solution would be "why would anyone get these skins if no one sees them" is a super valid one, but I like to shut it down respectfully in a simple way.

Through your own admission you wrote "I don't mind the skins" in the beginning meaning, maybe you wouldn't actually turn the skins "off" in the settings? there's probably a huge amount of people who wouldn't. But to the majority of Battlefield veterans that are sick and fed up with the monster energy drink skins. This would be an amazing solution to counter the money that EA could make including the backlash.

In short: EA still makes money and saves face. and lets be honest most people who are playing coming from COD want these skins and they won't turn it off.

  • Yes please, I would turn skins of because I would never buy one anyway and it 100% ruins the game for me sometimes. Already saw a dude with a very light coloured cape running around, like he is playing Helldivers 2.

If there are 2 different coloured enemies or vehicles in the same frame in a Battlefield it just looks so cheap

I like this solution, especially the option to overwrite all skins with my own customized skins. This allows me to customize the game to my liking and see the skins I have purchased or earned, creating a consistent look.

It does not harm anyone, and I do not believe it would negatively impact skin sales.

With this flood of skins, it's just hard to tell where a supporter is. Or which enemy in the tank is an engineer. In Hardcore mode, it's almost impossible to tell friend from foe.

For me, an option like this would be the icing on the cake for this game.

But I have little hope that such an option will make it into the game. Which is a real shame.

  • Hmmmm...

If you are long time players and just remember back to Battlefield 5, there were some character skins and colorful weapon options available, none of which bothered me very much and some I really enjoyed.

Based on the last two Battlefield series, Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 2042, I am more than a little surprised that some people were expecting bare-bones, run of the mill, ordinary grunts for "immersion"? Seriously?

Have you no desire about expressing one's individuality and personality by acquiring weapons, skins, characters that are "interesting" and a bit "colorful"?

I simply disagree that the choices being made available are "wild cosmetics." Some choices have bright colors, some skins are expressive, all of which should remind us that this is, above all, another chapter in the continuing saga of a multiplayer first-person shooter video game -- Battlefield.

So, you are generously minded enough to say others can make and express their cosmetic choices in the game unless, of course, you have to actually see those choices as they come into your view.  Hmmm.

    Really?!
