AFKers not being kicked for full duration of games

I've been wondering about the factors behind this for a while now, and I'm pondering if game mode and whether the player has spawned in affect it. I've definitely been kicked for being AFK in Breakthrough before, both from after deploying and from the redeployment screen itself, but I've seen quite a few mentions of it not happening in modes like Gauntlet.
