Anti-Personnel (Canister) Shell on Tanks is Awful, please improve
Canister Shell is my favorite equip for the tanks in BF3 and BF4. I am devastated by how weak it is in this game.
The issues:
- Seems to fire fewer pellets that do much less damage than prior iterations. This makes it wildly inconsistent. For an ammo type with NO explosive payload and 0 damage to vehicles, it should shred infantry even without all pellets on target. You have to make huge tradeoffs to use it.
- Much less effective at range than prior titles. BF4 you could consistently one-tap infantry at even 40~+ meters, which makes sense, as again, it is a dedicated anti-personnel ammo. Here that seems to not be possible even dead on target. Don't balance it like a videogame shotgun, it's being fired out of a tank.
- Basically ineffective against infantry partially behind cover. This is tied into the first issue, but because there are fewer, weaker pellets, if someone is behind cover partially you straight up can't kill them, even at close range. All other tank shells can, but the dedicated anti-personnel can't.
My frustration comes largely from the fact that the load time when you switch between ammo types in the MBT means that there is an even larger tradeoff for Canister compared to prior titles where you could swap instantly between ammo types. Tanks and IFVs also rotate their turrets wayyyyyyyyyyyyy slower, and infantry are stronger than ever, yet canister shell is weaker than every prior iteration I've played with.
Straight up, copy paste it from BF4 if you have to. I hate to beat a dead horse, but sometimes you don't need to change things for no reason. Canister was not overpowered in past titles, tanks are slower and weaker in this one, and switching takes longer, it wouldn't be overpowered here. I cannot at all justify using it in any circumstance, every other ammo type is better, even vs infantry, and they're all obviously better vs armor. It is a griefing attachment that does nothing.
