Allowing Recons to auto-spot enemies was a baffling decision and I feel as if that horrendous design decision, compounded by the trash netcode and maps, is why BF6 feels more like a CoD game where you spawn and die in a rapid cycle. You simply cannot be stealthy or tactical because you can get auto-spotted on a complete whim, with no notification for yourself, and that means you're FUBAR and now every enemy has a beam on you.
Like, whoever came up with that decision should probably be blacklisted from ever being a developer in video games. Whoever came up with that decision should consider handing in their notice and instead going into a simpler job like retail work or something: Just far away from video games, really.

I don’t think auto spotting is a great mechanic, and certainly I would have wanted to see it restricted to sniper rifles only (so because of the glint there’s SOME risk/reward from ADSing to spot), but honestly I don’t think that’s the root of that particular problem.
For me the issue is that have taken a single step, making sniping easier, that has had an avalanche of unforeseen effects. The biggest one being that there are many more snipers in any given match. After all, the mechanics are simple with a range finder, you can get a good kdr for little effort, it’s satisfying to one-shot from 100+, what’s not to like?
Thing is, when in the past you could walk underneath a high position and there may or may not be a sniper up there, now it’s guaranteed that each has a couple of them if not more. And ALL OF THEM are auto spotting. If the mechanic was used by 3-4 enemies, some of whom may not even be looking because they’re playing the obj, it wouldn’t be nearly as annoying.
