Most of the time I'm the one securing the area, while others blindly rush in and die 1 by 1 to touch the M-COM to either arm or disarm the bomb. This challenge does not promote co-operative behavior.

So you camp the objective to stat pad kills instead of playing the objective and trying to win, got it.
I'll just dismiss your personal petty attack on me. And also you're missing the point of what I'm addressing here.
But for the most part my eyes aren't locked onto the M-COM objective, but any place where people could be defending.
I'd argue in most cases it is the people around the one placing the bomb that are actually securing a bomb placement than the person placing the bomb. Maybe if there was some area near the M-COM that if you were in you'd be rewarded. Like capping a point in breakthrough.
