This One Change Could Greatly Improve BF6’s Class System
I’m a Battlefield veteran, I’ve been playing since Bad Company 2.
In my opinion, BF6 isn’t a bad Battlefield, but it still needs some improvements. With the upcoming seasons, I believe it can get closer to what older BF games were.
However, there’s one thing I really miss: the old class system and clear roles.
In previous Battlefield games, roles were very clear:
Assault: medic
Support: ammo
Engineer: vehicle repair and anti-vehicle
Recon: spotting and reconnaissance
Today, BF6 has changed that structure. I completely understand why—change is important to move the franchise forward.
➡️ Engineer and Recon feel fine to me; their roles are still clear.
➡️ But in my opinion, the issue is with Support and Assault.
Support now feels like a merge of multiple roles, while Assault has become almost a solo-focused class with limited team impact.
I don’t think these changes are bad by themselves. But I do think something important is missing:
👉 The ability to choose your class gadget to specialize your role.
💡 Proposal: Allow players to choose their class gadget to specialize
This would:
increase tactical depth
bring back clearer class identity
keep the current system while also satisfying veteran players
🩹🧰 Support Examples:
Current pouch (ammo + healing)
Medical crate (heals faster, health only)
Ammo crate (resupplies faster, ammo only)
🪖💉 Assault Examples:
Current syringe
Speed stim (temporary sprint boost)
Resistance stim (temporary damage reduction)
Quick heal (small instant health boost)
🔧 Engineer Examples:
Current repair tool
Shock tool (repairs faster but limited duration)
Standard wrench (repairs slower but with little to no cooldown)
🔭 Recon Examples:
Current motion sensor
Binoculars for spotting
Throwable sensors (moved from grenade slot to primary gadget)
🎯 Conclusion
This kind of system would keep BF6’s modern flexibility while bringing back the strong class identity that made older Battlefield games so great.
In my opinion, this could:
improve teamplay
add more tactical depth
and most importantly, bring back veteran players
