Attack Helicopters need to be reworked!

The helicopters have come a long way since the beta but I feel they need some additional work! The amount of ammo for rockets needs to be increased. What’s the point of picking heavy rockets if you only have 4 in each salvo? With the dispersion, weak damage, limited ammo, and if you don’t have a gunner you’re screwed even if you make quick passes.  Rocket ammo would probably be better balanced if you have heavy rockets at 8, aim guided 8, and light at 10. Also, it shouldn’t take almost a full magazine of the main  gun to kill 1 enemy, maybe 3 or 4 rounds.

As for controls I feel the yaw rate needs to be slightly increased as well. As a heli main maps like Mirak Valley are brutal, with almost no cover it’s hard to even get past halfway of the map. With the combination of anti-air vehicles, the auto turret near their spawn, stingers, 2 jets, and the small arms fire that can now bring you down you’re toast if you try and make a run past there. Having a helicopter in the manhattan map makes for some crazy flying and I’m for it but the map boundary for air vehicles is pretty small and a punishingly short timer even if you hug the boundary of the map. If you’re going to keep the ammo count short like this at least add the little bird so it can paint targets for attack helicopters. In my opinion this would help balance the attack helicopters vs almost everything in the game.

  • I agree that the controls need a bit of touching up but the rest is pretty fine. 4 of the heavy Missiles and 1 tow missile can take out a tank easily. And depending on the map you could make a quick resupply and go straight back into it.

While I agree that you can do that, the light and heavy rockets seem ineffective compared to past games like bf3 and 4. While the tradeoff is risky since tow missiles require a lot of skill to get air to air kills with. In my experience most vehicles don’t even move or try evading because they know they can tank it and rip you out the sky (mostly the anti air vehicles).

I don't understand why they thought to rework them... they were perfect in BF4 why don't the just use that as a template, the mind boggles at some of the decisions.

  • I disagree, the helicopter experience now seems perfect, I speak as a Battlefield veteran, in beta it was too fast and light, and the controls were terrible. Now it has the right balance of weight and speed, the ammo is correct considering the firepower it has, if they were to increase the ammo and the speed of the helicopter, it would become unstoppable, if you have the skills now it is already quite powerful. They did a great job.
